If everything goes to plan this season I'll be on 87 grounds visited by the end of it, in which case Accrington Stanley, Forest Green Rovers, Newport, Manfield Town, or Salford Town away will suit me fine and will mean I'll be on 88 by season's end.

Anyone at home love night matches at the Lane. One downside to being in the Premiership not many night games.
Yes because when I go I am on holiday visiting family and can have a beer fest before, during and after. Burnley 2/11 next for me and got my points(not that I reckon I'll need them) I just realised 3pm er. Oh well,Spoons Eccy Road then match and afters. I need to order the S2 4SU badge too.

They do this because
a) They ultimately need to get it down to an 'inifinite series' - i.e. keeps being divisible by 2 to get to a final of 2, e.g. R32 --> R16 --> QF(8) --> SF (4) --> F(2).
b) There are 92 teams that take part so they can't start with all teams because that's not divisible by 2 all the way down to the final.
c) They don't want teams taking part in Europe to start in the early rounds
d) They don't want Prem teams in the first round

So in order to get down to a 'last 32' they take 70 teams in the first round giving 35 winners. This excludes the premier league teams plus the two teams who finished in 18th and 19th in the premier league the previous season - hence why Huddersfield are in the first round as they finished 20th. These are then joined by another 15 teams in the second round to give 50 teams, 25 winners. These are then joined by 7 more teams in the third round (the top 7 from the previous season? - Most likely to be in European action) to give the round of 32 which is then divisible by 2 all the way to the final.

All makes sense?

Phew!
thanks

I knmew it was something like that but didn't know the details despite having watched it for 40 odd years

The fact that Leeds v Class of 92 is chosen ahead of a genuine rivalry summarises everything that is wrong with football.

It’s a newly promoted team from the conference against Leeds so it was always likely to be chosen. I don’t think the class of 92 stuff makes much difference to that decision.

Should be a winnable game but could be a banana skin.

Will more than likely be a banana skin because we'll not take it seriously
Staying up will be more important

At home to Blackburn

Lost both games so far in Championship this season, rock bottom with zero points. Lucky to get past Oldham in the cup tonight with 2 stoppage time goals at the death. Shouldnt have too many issues.

blackburn, nice to be at home would like to win wouldn't be distraught if we lost as league cup doesnt matter til 4th rd, you dont get prize money til semi finals with £25,000 (losing finalists £50,000 winners gets £100,000) & rather have a run in FA Cup with its prestige

is it sacrilege to say i sense a upset & blackburn might beat us

Losing to Barnet > Losing to Blackburn

Agree we’ll be a bit half hearted but our squad is now incredibly strong, probably the strongest it’s ever been.
Will go to this game because I might get to see Ravel Morrison, Ben Osborn, Keane Bryan, Besic, Jags, McBurnie and even the new goalie Verrips in action.

For the first time, probably due to being in the Premier League, but losing this wouldn’t bother me in the slightest. Even the shitty League Cup has me disappointed when we are knocked out in previous years but for me the Premier League and FA Cup are truly big time. I’d happily let us get tonked if we take the FA Cup seriously.

It does but having to post it on a football forum is like going on a mechanics message board and having to explain what a spark plug is.

Top tip, be careful when you Google "big end"..........

100% the second string will play and will be disappointed if they don't win tbh, the Jags and Morrisons off the team should be better then blackburn

But Leon Clarke should have been better than Barnet.

To be honest the PL fixture list is so small it would be good to have a run in the league cup to keep squad match fit. Some months we have only 3 games. Ok for teams in European competitions, and PL status is important but second string need game time in case needed for real deal. 46 games in La Liga is endurance and keeps all squad fit. We now have less games and bigger better squad.

I always quite like these cup games at home. You get to see some of the fringe players in action and I’ve not got those annoying kids sat behind me, who only attend league games.

I wonder if the club will be requiring people to have a minimum of 500 points for this one?
