I love Billy, he pounced on a rebound and scored. It's what he does brilliantly in close.

Look back at the pre season games. Lunny has applied himself and he's obviously listened to his manager. Come back lighter and fitter and there's a job for you.

Wilder has never stopped talking about the importance of home games, the fans, the players, and all the goodwill generated by our enormous team spirit.

Lundstram not withstanding, I'm more concerned about Norwood and his sometimes frail performances over he last 4 weeks. I can see Billy leading the side out, and a newer, sharper midfield, on the starting team sheet, against a Palace side, ripe for the picking at our place.

Same goes for our expensive strikers. Gerremon.

What is wrong with Sharp being used as a hugely effective substitute? Does it really offend Bladey sensibilities that much? It worked rather well yesterday.

That’s not quite the point. He wouldn’t have spent that sort of money if he didn’t think those players were better than those we already have. It follows that they haven’t come to sit on the bench.

Billy can lead the team out and then take his place on the bench. Sentimentality can’t dictate selection. That’s Sunday League thinking. We’re a professional Premier League team.

What I wrote was not 'Sharp drivel', merely quoting Wilder at the end of last season. I don't care who gets picked because I know Wilder knows a lot more than me about our squad and football management in general.

As for the new players, again Wilder knows best. Mousset is apparently unfit so that's £10m not even in the 18. If McBurnie struggles to get up to speed with our play, either on the training ground or in matches, he won't start.
There are many, many examples of players being picked because of their name, price tag or, internationally, the team they play for, and it not working.

I tend not to comment on these posts (and many others) as there is very little point because Wilder will do what he sees as best for the club.

As I said, I was stating Wilder and also describing his 'nobody is bigger than the club' mentality.

Maybe Norwood appeared quieter yesterday because of how the team were set up. This is a formation that was used sparingly last season and requires the midfield 3 to play different roles. Norwood has more time on the ball when we play an attacking formation. He's an important player for us.

To put things in perspective all 3 of the midfield played well and grew into the game as a unit but they can do much better which is encouraging

It was only after we went behind that we looked like wilders Sheffield united and deservedly got back into the game and in fact Bournemouth couldn't deal with it

After reacting like a kid with no pressies at Xmas when I saw the team sheet .I ended the day feeling confident that we will compete in this division and that our style of play will serve us well .saw some good signs

We need to win our Home games against teams in the bottom 10. Palace IMO are one of those. Despite looking comfortable, missing a couple of chances and having the greater possession the starting formation to-day ran out of steam after the hour mark. Bournemouth after their first real period of pressure in the game scored after 62 minutes.

CW made the right decision, changed the formation to our more natural shape and we immediately were on the front foot pushing Bournemouth back as they had to worry about a number 10. Deserved equaliser from our most natural goalscorer.

It would be madness to start with the same formation at Home against the likes of Palace. Sharp has to start for me as does Freemen after a good cameo to-day. 3-4-1-2 we have to be on the front foot from the off.

Exactly - pushing teams back and penning then in was a major factor of our defensive strength. Stands to reason that if we have more possession in the attacking third, we’re going to concede less.

Lundstram against Ryan Fraser is one thing, Lundstram against Zaha is something that’s nightmare inducing.

The best way to keep Zaha away from our goal is to attack them. Simple as that.

I would say that’s the best strategy against all bar the top 6.

What Sharp drivel? He scored 24 goals last term, comparable to 2 players that were sold for a combined fee of nearly £40m. He scored within 6 minutes of being on the pitch yesterday. Picking him to start is objectively sensible.

He’s not getting any younger, is he? Are you saying that if he’s ‘got the legs’ he starts every game? If so, I disagree. I see him as a very important impact sub, in the same manner as Kevin Phillips and even Trevor Francis in their latter years.

The crucial difference is that I don’t put a premium on a player because of where they come from or which team they support. That’s Sunday League thinking, but in S2 I’m used to that.

Gotta be honest I don't have a bloody clue what team he'll pick, or what team I'd pick, defence aside. I'm taking that as a reflection of our relative abundance of riches, so I'm comfortable with it.
