I'm sure he'll be in Wilder's thoughts, he has said a couple of times that he's in good shape, so fit enough you would think.
My only reservation would be when we don't have the ball. Does he have sufficient discipline etc. I'm not saying he does or he doesn't, I just don't know.
Ability wise he is up there with the best in the league I'm sure, so why not?

Patience folks, patience. He has a very important role to play from November onwards

Doubt it.....in the first match I expect Wilder to use many players from last season, who he knows he can trust. Of the new players think Robinson is the most likely to start...although in the past Wilder has said he sometimes makes his starting line up decisions based on how his players are performing in training.

Think those that don’t start will feel disappointed, however I suspect Wilder will use his squad well and make his substitutions on the 65 minute mark.
So even the subs will see a decent amount of game time.

I would of loved him to start and show that we're ready to really take it to the opposition from the first minute of game 1...

But unfortunately don't see it happening based on the fact he started tonight's friendly.

Maybe Wilder is having similar thoughts to yours. His selection for Tuesday is just to confirm what you both think?

No .

But I would play Billy Sharp who , annoyingly for some people , seems to have no intention of giving up the habit of putting the ball in the back of the net .

Yes , I know it was only a friendly against none league opposition but his 3 goals against Chesterfield were of a quality that clearly indicates he is still sublimely gifted in that department .

Let's hope that if anyone is chosen ahead of him will be equally effective , but I very much doubt it .

38 games to go. If he’s as good as he looks in patches of pre season I’m sure he’ll be in the team soon enough

For me its a yes. Midfield of ravel, fleck and norwood with freeman and lunny on the bench. We need his PL exp, and cool head on the ball otherwise i can see us getting panicked and hoofing it (norwood) when under pressure.

Morrison has allegedly shown in the past that he has a fragile temperament/confidence so if he started the Bournemouth game and didn't do what Wilder wanted how would he handle being dragged off after 1/2 an hour, much better giving him the last 20 minutes and see how he goes

Where he has a marginal decision to make about two players, one new one established, I think Wilder will pick last season's players and indeed might do just that as a matter of principle on loyalty alone. Wherever possible he will make gradual changes rather than wholesale changes. The new players have to fully absorb the system and the first match will show them far more than friendlies did.

Last season's players have earned the right to play and a new player's reputation and a big fee will not cut any ice with the manager unless they produce every day in training and show character. The established players will be fighting like mad to start on Saturday.

Lundstram will start the first three games.
That's a bold statement/prediction, when even Midas doesn't know that at least until he sees which midfielder he can get in before the deadline.

Loyalty is great to a point but this is the big league now and we need to pick the best players to win the game. If the new signings are worth the fees paid then they should be in sooner rather than later (I know Rav was free, but that is just because hid reputation is a bit toxic and I'm sure we will soon see how many million we have saved) Wouldn't start them all, but Robinson is a cert for me and if Rav is half the player he is bulled up to be I'd have him in the Duffy role from the start. Can't remember Duffy doing too many crunching tackles in midfield and the system worked, and it's got to be a better option than Lunny.

I’d start with billy and possibly put Morrison on the bench but Robinson should surely be included somewhere?. Mcburnie may have to wait for his chance?. UTB ⚔️⚔️⚔️

Yes

No time to fuck around playing Championship players just because they did well for us last season. Ravel is better than others in his position, he starts.

Likewise McBurnie and Robinson should start ahead of McGoldrick and Sharp.

Wouldn’t start him, would go with Billy and McBurnie.
But would bring him on with 30 mins to go if we are struggling to break them down and let him fly at them.

Sharp scored more headers than anyone else in the Championship last season. He's 5'9.

His positioning and attacking instinct got those goals, not his height or speed.

He can score goals in the Premier League.

We are in uncharted territory now, having almost an 'embarrassment of riches'.
Last couple of seasons the team has picked itself more or less, but now if you asked 10 people to pick Saturdays team, you could conceivably get 10 different answers.
Naturally it will settle down but I do expect quite a bit of tinkering, on a game by game basis. Who knows what the team will look like at the end of the season, but it will be fun finding out (hopefully).

Yes deffo him too, just behind billy & McBurnie.
My full starting 11 is on the Palace team thread.

Big call to go three forwards, I want us to be positive but that may be a bit much.

I would go Robinson and Mcburnie up top with Freeman in behind.

However I think CW will go Mcgoldrick and Robinson up top with the three of Lunny, Fleck and Norwood in midfield.

I think that the starting team will be last years team with Robinson being the only new starter up front with Billy and Didzy playing the Duffy role
