Bit of info for those who travel to the game on the Parkway, lane closures every Sunday between 6am and 6pm which should be fun for the Palace game.

Anyone using that route might want to find a different way in or set off mega early.

I am suspecting the actual closures will be 6PM to 6AM which DOES avoid the busy times.

The junction at meadowhall gets very busy with tail backs up the M1 on Sundays. Could cause those coming from north some trouble if they can't get off at either junction. Those coming from south can come off M1 at chesterfield but it will make woodseats, chesterfield rd and heeley very busy.

I wonder if the Uni will be having the new arrivals day on the same day just to make it more fun. Or perhaps the wonderful highways dept will be finishing off the the mess they've left on Queens Rd for a triple wammy.

2pm kick off so all need to be down early doors and allow plenty of travel time. Of course there be plenty of newbies who won't know where they're sitting as they stand there with one hand on forehead staring at their ticket/card and blocking the gangway in the middle of the greasy chip butty song.

Tell you what though - I can't wait.

Sky is the real villain here by moving the match from Sat to Sun. Councils and their contractors have to plan much further in advance than Sky Sports.

Perhaps Sky could re-surface the Parkway. They seem to be quite good at getting the impossible done. I very much doubt it would take them eleventeen years.

They managed to have a nice picture put up in S6 without any bother.

I think they do this every year in August as its timed for the quietest time of the year, i.e. when folk are off on summer holidays.

Slag Sheffield Council off if you really must, but this was probably planned well before the fixtures came out and the Palace game moved to Sunday.

The bone shaking section is maintained by Rotherham council rather than Sheffield (boundary is between the catcliffe and handsworth junctions), it's easy to tell exactly where the boundary is when you drive on it.

After living in Dronfield for over 20 years I tried all the different options. By far the best turned out to be the ring road then onto the Parkway. Seems a long way round, but by far the quickest and most economical way into Sheffield at busy times.

Was looking into this the other day. Judging by Uni start/fresher dates, I reckon this years city centre logistical debacle falls on the weekend of Sept 14th- Southampton at home, 3pm. Got to get home then back for a stag do that night as well. Couldnt change that one to a bleedin Monday night could they?

Yea, it turns out that most of the humps around the trees weren't anything to to with the roots, it was layers and layers of tarmac that had been shoveled on over the years as a botch job. So the council, and it's useless contractor Amey, have spent millions destroying mature trees and replacing them with twigs. This at a time when cities need tree canopy cover more than ever to help prevent pollution and over heating.
I've seen several posters on here complaining about various issues with the council.
If you want change then do something about it by signing this. Only 9 out of the 84 councillors are making decisions about what happens in our city!!
This needs to change.
