Goals are tough to come by in the PL and there’s every chance there’ll be more penalties this season with VAR. it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that scoring from the spot consistently this season might make the difference between staying up and going down so who’s the man for the job?
 



Not even a question. Sharp, Norwood whoever
 
It's Norwood until he misses or isn't playing, then it'll go back to Sharp if he's on.

If neither, most senior striker on the pitch.
 
Sharp, Norwood and McGoldrick all scored and missed penalties last season. Which doesn't help particularly.
 
Don’t think McGoldrick is actually a very good penalty taker. Out of the three he took last season, the two he scored would likely have been saved had the keeper gone the right way, as proven with the one against the Pigs.

I like Sharp even though he’s missed a couple. He does tend to play safe and blast it down the middle on pressure occasions. Norwood looks to be the one with the responsibility at the moment though which is no bad thing given his recent efforts.

Seem to remember Jagielka taking them the last time we were in the Premier League too. If all else fails he may take on the responsibility should there be no one else at the time if he’s playing.

No way, Jags is bound to miss, we get relegated by a point and all the conspiracy theorists will be lighting up like fireworks on bonfire night :oops:

I'd agree with Norwood. Seems pretty composed and just takes his time to feel it out.
 
If we need to rely on Penalties, to stay up then god help us this season.

No more than 5 pens this season for me.

Was really surprised at the amount of pens we got awarded last time round in the Prem - although granted that was over a decade ago now 😂

I'd stick with Norwood, Blackman was a good pen taker in his time when here, don't give it to Don Givens
 
Jack completely forgot about him old bean my bad sorry, he had a great technique as well.

Can imagine it will be one of Billy, Norwood or McBurnie depending on who's on the pitch. Agree with you on Beattie, his pennos were fantastic and I think you're right in saying he never missed one. Gary Speed tucked some belters away as well 😓
 
Norwood.

He has a solidly consistent technique that I trust and he's a thinker too so I'd back him to stay unpredictable and win the guessing game with the goalkeepers.

I think all our attacking players are capable of taking penalties so it shouldn't be a problem but we don't seem to have a specialist.
 



With VAR this season there's a good chance we'll see a lot of penalties. The amount in tournaments has gone up since it's been introduced.

Norwood, McBurnie or Sharp to take them
