Not much to disagree with there except I'd swap Lundstram and Freeman around but I think 1-11 may look very different in 20/21 if we stay up.

I'm a bit of a penchant for squad numbers, and I like them to be 'right'. Don't ask me why, I'm a bit geeky like that.

I'm with Ricky on this and was going to say the same, no way should Lundstram be 7. He isn't a 7 and we've just spent big on a player who performs well in that number, give it to Freeman, give a new CM if we sign one 8 and move Lundstram to 24. Osborn is 23 and McBurnie will be 9 if he arrives.

Robinson should have been 7 - right footed. Was his number at Preston. Also.... CR7!

Freeman 11 - left footed. LM/AM.

8 for Norwood or Mousset.

Can't get over Lundstram having 7. Never will.

I know he's been playing pre-season and not sure on how touchy players are but i'd be asking Lundstram for that number back. Surely Freeman or Robinson should be on that

I thought Norwood would take 8 when he came in, but he must have some attachment to 16; wears it for NI as well as for his former clubs. Seems strange having a definite starter in a number >11. Same with Egan.
On a different note, numbering a 3-5-2 is a bit of a minefield. Fellow squad number geek here reporting for duty.

The first two I can accept, but Norwood was never going to go to 8, he's got an affection for 16 and 8 for Mousset?!

Man, are you cray-cray? 8 just doesn't look right on a striker! It's Andy Johnson, Iheanacho all over again! It's just doesn't look right. Unless, it's on Wright bizarrely, otherwise, it's wrong!

8 should be for a centre mid.

Number lists sometimes throw up a few surprises anyway, so we'll see.

Could be worse, goalkeeper at 2, strikers at 44, 42, 45 etc, anyone?! 🐷

The alternative is giving a '£10m' signing number 22!

8 is a lovely attacking number.

You leave 8 alone.

I'd go like this:

1 HENDERSON
2 BALDOCK
3 STEVENS
4 FLECK
5 O'CONNELL
6 BASHAM
7 ROBINSON
8 FREEMAN. L
9 MCBURNIE
10 SHARP
11 MOUSSET
12 EGAN
13 DEWHURST
14 MORRISON (new signing, was Gary Madine)
15 JAGIELKA (new signing, was Paul Coutts)
16 NORWOOD
17 McGOLDRICK
18 FREEMAN. K
19 STEARMAN
20 BRYAN
21 DUFFY
22 LUNDSTRAM

Maybe swap 8 & 11, but... i don't like 8 upfront, don't mind 11 upfront.

This I can get on board with.

I remember when we gave 7 to a proper inspirational attacking player, Shaun Murphy. Lundstram having it isn't so bad by comparison.

That entire set of squad numbers when they first introduced them in the Football League was a mess, Derry was 2 in midfield, Kozluk 5 at right back, Sandford 4 despite always wearing 5 before squad numbers, Hunt 6 despite being an abysmal midfielder, Murphy 7 presumably because it would have gone to Saunders so was vacant.

I quite like that we don't change numbers constantly though, I'd never have given Lundstram 7 when he signed, but it's his number now. Players moving by just the odd couple of numbers is the worst like Lee Williamson swapping between 12 and 14, or Regan Slater being 39 when he used to be 38.

Wilder does seem to be a little geeky about it. I noticed that when he came in, Brayford's squad number was changed from 5 to 2.

Perhaps we should adopt the approach by Argentina in the 78 World Cup and assign them alphabetically. So Ossie Ardiles played in the No.1 shirt - that would mess with a lot of OCD folk, me included!

England adopted a similar approach in 82, except the keepers wore generic numbers so Clemence was still 1, Corrigan was 13 and Shilton 22.

i couldn't give a flying one about numbers - sorry

Hmmm,I agree.
He's no Alan Woodward. He was definitely a 7 ;) Give it to Robinson.

He’s geeky about it because he’s a true fan. He’s done much better with the numbers than any of his predecessors since squad numbers came in.

This is how I see it
1 Hendo
2 K Freeman (been here longest)
3 Stevens
4 Bash
5 Egan
6 Jack
7 Duffy
8 Norwood
9 Sharp
10 McGoldrick
11 Fleck

The rest can sort themselves out. When I wor a lad there were only 12 numbers that mattered and nobdy wanted 12!

More to the point,, who is going to be in the 25 allowed, and what will happen to those who aren`t ?

Who did you sell MOORE to, or have you released him? 😂
