1. I don't live in Shefffield
1a. Thought we might make play offs in the Championship..like most of us did
2. You aiming for the stars ..has no impact whatsoever on where we finish in the Premier League
3. If we finish fourth bottom we will be massively better off financially..and hence be able to attract better players ( if we need them ) oving forward and will have learnt a lot of lessons about the Premier League as it is today
4. Yours mine any fans thoughts on where we finish have and never will have any effect on our position ..we all sing and back the Blades whether we do down or finish 8th ...
5. We should be pushing for a top half season ...but you have no idea , yet , how we are going adapt how teams are going to play against us d hence how the season will unfold
6. You don't know how Wilder thinks
You could’ve stopped at 1, as it alone spoiled his point in a way you’re unaware of. :)

Curses are bollocks. This manager and this group of players have never let us down. What does let us down is a significant minority of fans who delight in diminishing the club they claim to support.

Seldom can there have been less to be unhappy about, but some see only shades of black.

I’m sat watching a pre-season friendly against Barnsley, when we’re meant to be at our most disjointed, purring over the clever football we play. All the new signings share the same footballing brain. Heady days indeed, if you can’t enjoy the prospect of going into the PL as a quality outfit rather than plucky scrapper, you can’t enjoy anything.

Now that is absolutely ridiculous. Let's hope it takes until Xmas for them to gel

They've signed 10 players (well, so far) we've signed 7 and appear to be after at least 3 more. Only difference is their players have cost more which I'm sure Wilder would have done if that money was available to him. They shouldn't need anymore time to gel than we do, arguably less as they 'did most of their business early'. Time will tell if they've bought the right players although Wilder was probably taking the piss out of them when he said he could have had his squad in by now if he'd spanked another 20 million.

On the Swans forum they seem convinced he's off and that he had leaving drinks last night (based on the photo earlier in the thread mind).

Not to pre-empt the weirdo, but quite split reaction to him going. Many seem to think 18m is about right, a few lament him going but think 18m is too much, and a few don't actually rate him and think he's not strong enough nor with a good enough first touch.

I’ve had a look through 3 of their forums and on SM and I think that we’ve got to take most negative comments with a pinch of salt based on what the vast majority of their fans and also players who played with him seem to be saying mate. Let’s face it daft as it seems, if they’re desperate to keep a player, some fans might think that the best way to put a club off him is to tell the world that he’s actually not very good. 🤪

Interesting, That’s the kind of manager talk when the deal is moving closer - fingers crossed.....

And actually we can thank Swansea for playing him pre season.

Whoever signs maupay is gonna have a player who’s a few weeks and games away from being at peak fitness for the start of the season. He’s gonna regret not joining in with preseason when he struggles to get up to pace at the start of the year imo.

One things for sure from those goals he needs service from the wings.

If you look at our goals last season, the way we build up I think (hope) he would suit the way we play. We got plenty of balls into the box as well as from set pieces

I also really like the way Robinson was able to stretch the defences too! Him and mousset could cause problems like that next season.

Some great goals there for a bang average team.

The biggest credit I can give the bloke is that every time he’s played us I’ve ended up hating the bloody sight of him. He always seems angry and wound up but generally in control, the type of player opposing fans hate but his own fans love. I really think he’d be a great signing for us and would complement our other attacking options because apart from being good on the deck he’s also a real threat in the air, dare I say in the Rob Hulse mould?

Every time he’s played against us i have always thought that he is the ‘shithouse’ type centre forward that defenders hate playing against. I think he would fit in perfectly in our system, much more so than Maupay.

I was at the game yesterday in the executive box as a guest on a table with all Barnsley fans and mentioned we were close to McBurnie and they couldn't speak highly enough of him and didn't think he'd struggle in The Prem.

Said they'd have 100% stayed up a couple of years ago if they'd had him all season as they were supposed to (they had their own "fax machine" fuck up) and he got their player of the year even though he didn't join until January.

That’s only want Brentford fans will be saying about Maupay in a few weeks, and we know Brentford have form

Don't buy the Villa "doing a Fulham" bit. They've signed 10 players so far, 4 of them were at the club last season. So 6 new faces.

We've signed 7. 1 of those were at United last season. Were in exactly the same position (just a few million better off!).

Anywho, this is the biggie for me. I wanted McBurnie (over Maupay) since the transfer window opened & think him & Robinson would be amazing for us. Gerrim in!!

Only difference with Villa is they've brought a few in who have never played in England before. Agree they haven't done a Fulham though. Their signings are decent, they've just decided to not bother negotiating for them.

I saw a stat (I think on sky tv) that I can’t seem to find now. Excluding this summer out of the top 7 highest spending promoted premier league sides only Fulham were relegated. So generally spending a lot gives you a better chance of staying up.

Fulham’s problem was their recruitment was awful. They signed Anguissa and Mitrovic who were good the rest were awful. Also they signed 15 players. We look to be signing 9 or 10. Only Robinson, Freeman, Henderson and maybe mcburnie if he is signed early enough. Henderson was here last season too so only 2 or 3 new players starting the first game.

Agreed. They decimated the spine of their starting 11 & effectively had to start as a fresh team. They didn't build on their promotion campaign, something I can say with absolute confidence we've done, and done well.

The money they've parted with for Konsa & Mings is eye watering (and the most surprising) for me. Neither of them are particularly good defenders IMO & against some of the better strikers the Premier League will offer, I fancy them to concede on the regular.

Edit: Actually, thinking about it, I don't think that they're any better off this season than they were last year. They haven't replaced Abraham, their defense is effectively the same and they still need a keeper.

Was there anyone who thought Fulham’s dealings were shit? Mawson, Seri, Schurrle especially I thought seemed like brilliant signings. It could quite easily go tits up for Villa, so not gonna rule out whether they are the “next Fulham”.
