My guess is that one or more decent Championship clubs have been in touch with his agent, promised a better wage on a minimum of two years, including a big promotion bonus. While wanting to stay, he thinks the offer is too good to refuse and is flattered by another big club thinking he can mastermind another promotion, whereas we are bringing in a few players who are likely to replace him.

Letting Duffy go - big mistake folks!
Hold on there.
We aren’t letting Duffy go. The management were more than happy for him to stay on his enhanced terms and be in the Premier League squad.
He said he wants a new contract or to talk to other clubs, and CW has granted his wish on the latter.
There is nothing the management or club have done wrong here.

if only some footballers had their own brains and didnt listen to these money grabbing scum agents
He’s a grown man and totally responsible for his own actions. Far easier to blame a faceless agent I suppose but you are only kidding yourself.
I’ve seen the club, Wilder and now the agent blamed rather than the man who went to see the manager demanding a new deal or he’s considering his options.

I want Duffy to stay 100 % , but these tests mean fuck all , look at D . McGoldrick scores yet he's one of our best players.

Hes played about 20 minutes how can you judge a player playing 20 minutes after been injured ??

How many times last season did he make the bench , he wasn’t injured all of last season.
You have to earn the respect of the fans. Injured or not , at the moment he’s done nothing , Duffy proved it on the pitch.
Granted if Duffy is fooking around he should be out, Bryan has a lot to prove at the moment, he’s done squat didly. So if a squad place had to be found and it wasn’t for contact issues he’d be first out

Agree with absolutely everything said here. Hearing a lot of blade fans putting the blame on wilder, Duffy signed a new contract last year and got a pay rise when we got promoted. Now he’s being a billy big bollox

Bryan is also only 22 so is only going to get better. Still think he’ll end up going out on loan

If Duffy was to go this summer, How much do we reckon we’d take for him? Be lucky to get close to £1M considering his age and only 1 year left

Demonstrates our lack of track speed throughout the squad and nothing more.

If we were a track club or even a rugby club, then those times would concern me, but as for a football club, there just one of several indicators of athleticism.

The role has changed, the players brought in a different to Duffy. The way Duffy has played in the last few seasons will not work in the PL, we will not have the ball as much, the role will have far more running and checking back than what Duffy is capable of doing (he couldn't manage full games as it was, without increasing the amount of work needed). I guess CWAK have pointed out that he isn't going to get games and indeed probably not be on the bench. Tough world, he's gone from integral part of the team to not in the matchday squad in a matter of weeks.

I hope he gets a decent deal at Blackburn, Preston or Wigan. Close to home and better for his family
Fair points, I’m just trying to give an alternative view as to why he might want more money or a new contract, SEB.

I also think he’s still more than capable of playing a role for us in the top league.

Imagine you or me publishing performance details of our colleagues! Great player but as someone else said, brain of a rocking horse. It seems clear that he has no-one that can offer him good advice or if there is then he's too stubborn to take it. I wish it wasn't so.

As with all statistics they only show one thing.

How would those stats look after 30/60/80 minutes of playing time ?

Taken off pigs talk there's a thread about Duff and wether they should offer him a 1year deal -

At United the sum was greater than its parts.

They didn’t have great players but put together by a very good manager they made a very effective team, individually though they didn’t have great players.

Hence the reason the worlds greatest midfielder Paul Coutts now plays at Fleetwood. As the team breaks up expect the majority of their players to slip back down through the divisions to their natural level, the likes of Fleck, “Bashambaure”, Baldock, Egan, McGoaldrought, Sharp and Stevens will all be playing for lower end Championship sides or in League 1 within the next 18 months to 2 years.

As for Duffy coming to Hillsborough? No thanks, he’s not fit to lace Forestieri’s boots.

Truly deluded,

Truly deluded,

It just shows how selective they are when it comes to their use of facts. If one of their players had suffered a career threatening injury they'd be offering massive amounts of sympathy. The fact that Coutts is able to play football at all after receiving such a horrific leg break is a miracle, yet they dismiss it as if it was inconsequential. Do they not remember what Coutts, Duffy et al did to them when we played at their ground?

If we didn't/don't have great players why haven't their 'superstars' beaten us at four times of trying? It wouldn't make any difference, they bend the facts to suit their lies. Either that or they are genuinely thick, incapable of recognising good players when they see them - what did they think young Brooks was doing to their 'superstar' defender Hunt? They continue to confirm just how separated from footballing reality they are. I'm also aware that this may not represent every wendy supporter, but it's clear there's enough of the fools to maintain a position of concern about their willingness to contort and twist any facts so long as it suits their purposes.

If we’re bringing players in who play a similar role to Duffy, are yet to prove themselves at the top level and are getting paid more than Duffy who has proved himself at our club then I can see why he’d want a bigger pay cheque. Now I’m not saying this is the case but it is a possibility that Duffys’ agent has got wind of it and Duffy feels aggrieved, this will test Wilders resolve at the very top and it’s decisions like this that can make or break a season.

Aye
And MD (approaching 34 years of age)) is "yet to prove [himself] at the top level"

Like every good man-manager Wilder is thinking about the wider implications here. Duff gets a new contract, then up steps everybody else who feels entitled. He then turns one down.... he's got problems in the camp.

No, Wilder is managing this situation excellently. He is very structured and consistent in his approach... ie, you do well and you get the rewards. But you have to earn those rewards. Basically if Duffy was doing the biss in the prem then come October / November we would be reading about Duff signing a 1 year extension on bloody good money.

Unfortunately, because I love him as a player, I reckon the silly lad has blown his chance of a shot at the big time.

It's very disappointing that Duffy and his agent should think he deserves a better contract at the moment. I can understand it to a degree from the player's perspective, nearly 34, one year left, gaffer signing a number of younger and potentially better players that play in my position, I want to secure my future. But they can't have thought in their right mind that Wilder was ever going to accede to their requests. If he had gone to Wilder and said that he saw his chances of regular first team football were going to be limited and wanted to see if any other clubs would offer that, then I think that would have been acceptable.

He should have bided his time, see what happens. Waited 5 months, sure he would have got some game time. If he’s not happy he could go in January (after we have played Liverpool at anfield on New Year’s Day) silly boy
