#sufc boss Chris Wilder says there has been no change in discussions re the loan move of Dean Henderson from #mufc. Suggest a final decision on whether it happens or not to happen before the weekend. Reiterated that they are considering other options.

#sufc boss Chris Wilder says Mark Duffy is free to look for other clubs after a contract talks this summer. Duffy initially offered a contract 18 months ago that included a #EPL promotion clause.

#sufc boss Chris Wilder has confirmed that the transfer of Ben Osborn from #nffc will happen in the next 24/48 hours.

#sufc boss CW says he's in the market for more midfielder, but stopped short of confirming a deal for Leroy Fer was close.

Sounds like from what wilder said, we offered him a new deal with a release clause if we were promoted?

I don't think that's a correct interpretation of what CW is saying . If it was then we offered Duffy a contract 18 months ago which meant if we were promoted hed be gone . Hardly motivational really .

It sounds like he was offered a contract with a promotion clause in it that meant hed get a bump in his salary of we did go up..

No mention of a new striker? Good though Billy was tonight we definitely need more firepower.

........and he didn't' sign it?

"He was offered a contract 18 months ago, which he accepted which included his money going up if we reached the premier league, he's got a year left on that. I'll be the one that offers contracts to existing players, not agents and players so that's basically it."

So basically, Duffy and his agent are wanting a new contract, even though there is 12 months left on premier money. Duffy says threre's other interested parties and Wilder's said, off you trot then.

Ok Duffy signed the contract 18 months ago.

It included a promotion clause which meant he got more money.

His agent has pushed for a renegotiation for a larger increase, Wilder said no Duffy said he wants to look elsewhere, took weekend off to think about it and came back to confirm he wants to look around..

I get his age means he needs to squeeze all he can out of his career, but this move backfired and instead of being humble he’s acted like a kid by the sounds of it

Does that suggest someone is indicating that it's close?

It wasn’t his normal response to the question. But that maybe because he’s a free agent and there is no selling club involved

He also said a “few” of course not going to sign all of them but would back up the Sawyers chat. And used the term variety

Nop.

He wants more money, which is a sad thing to hear.

Wilder - “I’ll be the one that decides when we talk about contracts, not agents and not players”

I really thought Duffy would be keen to have a crack at PL football as long as he was still in Wilder's plans.

If it's his choice, it's a disappointing choice, but so be it.

It's a shame. His direct replacement Freeman is still to look like he's clicking in this team. So it's not ideal for us.

Bit cheeky of Duffy, he already got a wage increase. Unless it is/was just a case of Duffy wanting an extension to his current deal.

I think Duffy might be nervous due to the players coming in that he won't get enough time on the pitch to earn an extension later in the year.

Where did you get that from? I've not seen any quotes from Wilder mentioning money, and Shields is quite clear the conversation was about an extension. He's got 12 months left on his deal and wants to commit the rest of his career to the Blades. What's sad about that? Can't say I would have offered him a new deal, but you're making it sound like Duffy's sold out in pursuit of more cash and I've not seen anything to back that up.

I hope, they can both put this aside and carry on as is.

Well new contract = more money in the majority of cases. Even if it's an extension, it's more money coming in even without a raise, which I can't see there not being.

But I mean in terms of the team, they all have lifts in the contracts, Wilder said so in that interview with Bettis, but Duffy thinks his contract isn't good enough.

From a team perspective it's a disappointing thing to hear.

He was bloody good tonight to be fair. And I say that as someone who wasn't a huge fan of his at QPR.

I read that as Duffy wanting to extend his contract and not increase his wages. Which, at his age, is a fair thing to be after. He seems to have handled it badly though.

More likely his agent being a greedy git.

I know it’s only Chesterfield but come on, 3 assists and a goal tonight, what else do you want him to do

Don't think it was 3 assists was it?

I want him on the ball more and I want him to be more consistent with his quality and decisiveness when he has it. He's looked ideal when we're working the ball in advanced wide positions but generally, I know he can do better and I'd like to see it in pre season to have some assurance we can afford to lose Duffy.

Robinson's looked more like a Duffy replacement so far.

I didn't see the Northampton game though.

Wanting to extend a contract running into the last year makes perfect sense. Indeed, we're usually glad that people want to commit themselves to the team. The fact that he agreed a deal 18 months ago doesn't affect this - that's the normal chronology of events.

Whatever was discussed it appears Duffy hasn't handled it as well as he might, but you've jumped to conclusions in order to criticise him for being greedy, and you've got no evidence to back that up. That's disappointing.

Eh ? You don't think Freeman has looked good so far ?
