Please God not Joe Hart. That would put a huge downer on being in the Premier League.

I'd rather have Carson than Hart if we're going for ex England goalkeepers.

In fact I'd rather have Peter Shilton.

Joe Hart is a diabolical keeper and I refuse to believe that Wilder would go anywhere near him other than as a last option.
Hart was a top keeper only a few years ago hes had a bad period in his career but still only 32.
He should be in his prime and will realise his career has been on a down wood path for a while could he be a candidate for Wilders school of players been scrapped with something to prove.
Hes on good money that's for sure but if he has professional pride he has something to prove.! ?
I would take him but in Wilder we trust.

My simplified take on this whole thing is, Prince did have the cash to splash (contrary to some reports saying he had no green) but was unwilling to do so for the type of players we were signing last year (even tho it obviously worked lol)

Now we in the prem and looking to sign higher profile players, he is probably a little less tight-arsed on keeping the war chest locked up...

Hopefully both owners have realised that any money they give to Wilder will be soundly invested and not squandered.

With the type of players Wilder is buying, the value of the squad could be doubled or more after a season of Premier League experience.

Not to mention the potential personal satisfaction and financial rewards to be gained from a successful Premier League campaign.

At the end of the day Wilder has generated this budget for himself by being so successful

Hart was good, but his decline was becoming apparent as he left Man City. Horrors at Torino, West Ham and Burnley followed. That is some lengthy decline and with no sign of coming out of it. It happens, but Hart looks to be a terminal case for a keeper. Too many obvious and unforced errors. Can't think of many keepers who have come back from such a serious loss of form.

Would rather pay £10m for Etheridge than £8m for a 33 year old.
I just checked his age and was surprised at the figure being banded about for a 33 year old . That said , get two good seasons out of him where he saves us points it looks like small beer.

The problem now is that clubs will know that we're running out of options after the Henderson saga and we'll be getting increasingly desperate. I could easily see Cardiff wanting £15m under the circumstances.

A top flight Dutch keeper. Is this as in Eredivisie top flight or a Dutch keeper in the PL over here? I wonder if we're looking at Michel Vorm, Dutch, 35, would fit the bill as a solid number two keeper.

A lot of good keepers in Europe would be interested in joining a PL club as number 1. Hope we're putting the feelers out.

With Henderson though, surely it's just a matter of time. We'll leave it until the last minute to save £2m. What better option will Cancer Utd have if they care about his development and value?

I see your point and would make sense, however RC says he doesnt have the name so I presume it would be an Eredivise keeper

I'm guessing, but from what I can see from RC's post he means someone from the eredivisie, simply because he said he couldn't remember the name, if it was vorm or stekelenburg I think he would recognise/remember.

If McBurnie and Osborn come in as expected, then I feel that we have more than enough options in attack and midfield. I don't think we need Sawyers.

I'm a bit surprised that we've not heard anything regarding the RWB and RCB positions.

I've no idea what the starting XI will be against Bournemouth but I could have a good bet on the defenders... Apart from A N Other in goal of course!

I think Sawyers is a contigency with the news Duffy may be going, he can also cover Norwood. He is a sublime footballer and would be an asset. I agree on the position RCB though, we need to bolster that position.

Can only assume that CWAN consider jags to be sufficient to cover RCB.

Best get a move on if the interest in Sawyers is genuine as WBA are seemingly well progressed in negotiations. A player I've always liked and one with a decent chance of making it at the top level.

What a mess it is with Henderson and Man Utd. As a result, whoever comes in having missed most/all of the pre-season games will be underprepared for Bournemouth.

I thought Sawyers was off to either WBA or Celtic ?

Agree with most about Hendo, look elsewhere, £50K a week is bad enough, would presumably make him top earner, has not played a single minute in the Prem and we'd still be in the same position 12 months on.

I believe £50k a week is below the premier league average.

We need to get used to paying these sums.

Sharp McBurnie?

Bryan out on loan

Update. Keep saying it but Osborn nearly done, few little things to tidy up and it’s done. Very confident McBurnie will be in early to mid next week, £17.5 million. Maupay seems dead as he cannot make up his mind and appears to want to wait and wait for what he considers better offers. Henderson being delayed by Man Utd’s demands, he’s signed a new contract on £50k a week and they want us to pay the full amount plus a £2 million loan fee. We’ve said we can pay the wages and that’s it. They’re trying to recoup some back for the big wages they’re now paying De Gea. We’ll go elsewhere otherwise with Joe Hart and Tom Heaton as top options. A top flight Dutch keeper will be coming in as no 2, not sure on name yet. Interest in Romaine Sawyers now it seems they’ll accept a low fee, though there’s one or two loan options been looked at for a midfielder. Friendly on 3rd August will be Stade Reims away.

Any update on the 'big foreign name' the prince wants Wilder to sign?

Is Jags not RCB cover? He played Right Full Back for long enough at the Lane, as well as midfield, CB and keeper.

I just thought at his age he'd be the more central defender. I only saw the Betis game and he was central then.
