Personally, I have always felt that McBurnie seems like the better fit for us, in terms of playing style, attitude and background.
I haven't commented at all on Maupay to date, preferring to defer to Wilder/Knill's judgement as to whether he was a worthwhile target. I have been concerned, however, that it could turn out to be one of those moves (which happen occasionally with players and managers) where you end up reflecting that it didn't work out because the individual simply didn't settle.
If it's true that he spoke with Wilder 10 days ago, that tells me everything I need to know. And Wilder isn't the man I think he is, if it hasn't told him too.
In a similar vein, I hope that Wilder is going to bring the Henderson saga to a head now, too. Goalkeeper is a critical position and we do not want to find ourselves scrabbling around for a keeper in the week before the season starts, having left ourselves at the whim of Henderson and Man Utd.
