Spending time reading this forum and other media outlets can easily lead to a sense of panic developing...then Lord Wilder speaks for 45mins and all my fears are alleviated.
He knows exactly where our weaknesses are, exactly what work needs to be done, and it very much sounds like he's cracking on with it right now.
There's no bulls**t, no stereotypical "manager speak" or cliches...just a down to earth, competent and honest manager, quietly getting on with his job using the tools and budget at his disposal....he just also happens to be a genius capable of pulling rabbits out of hats, with a very good team of staff around him.
We are blessed to have him on board

Wise words

A year to change the backdrop, it distracts so much. Wilder on top form, Biggs his normal embarasing self, always liked his articles though.

That was a decent watch, although Biggs is definitely from the Alan Partridge school of presenting!

I actually think Biggsy is growing into the presenting thing, which is fair given it's a completed different role to what he's worked in for most of his career.
I think the fact it's not all polished and shiny gives it a nicer feel.

I only watch the ones where a blade is on and have found the ones with wilder and Betti's particularly interesting
I suppose all those people on here hanging on Richard Cadette every word ( like me ) would rather he didn't bother asking about incoming transfers

I'm sure he's a lovely chap and his mum loves him. I'm also old enough to get your point about his substantive role locally. It doesn't mean that he, or his product, is beyond criticism. The fact that the show is popular yet appallingly produced and executed cannot be ignored either. Just because it's a low budget local show with a following, doesn't mean it cant't be improved.
I agree that the last thing we need is some dolly bird from London fronting the show, based on her cleavage, rather than in depth local knowledge. Biggs should either stick to his print role, or produce a show worthy of a wider audience. He is not the front man for this level of production.
Ignore me. I'm just a grumpy old isolated fucker. :)
To make good tv you have to pay people who know how to make good tv. The majority of those won’t be working on provincial football programmes with minuscule budgets.

Comparing Biggs’ show with those made by the big production companies is like moaning at Sheffield FC because they’re not as entertaining as the Blades.

It would be genuinely much better, and cheaper, done as a podcast without any visuals. But regardless, it is highly feasible nowadays to produce something that’s cheaper and looks far more professional – in fact your better than average student in this field would likely be a bit disappointed with the look of this.

Your better than average student probably goes straight to one of the big companies.

There is no comparison. I still maintain that low budget does not have to mean shit production values. :)

I think I'm alone here, but I actually really enjoy what Alan Biggs has done .

I've been watching his ' Sheffield Live ' stint for a long time now and witnessed some cracking sessions with Wilder, Alan Knill, Paul Mitchell, Billy Sharp, Simon Moore, Paul Coutts, George Baldock etc etc etc .

I also like the stint James Gregg puts in, in relation to local sport . The fact that hes a Blade through and through and an avid Cricket aficionado helps too .

Fuck the production values or lack of therein, I want to hear from all the above and more fellow Blades aswell .

Keep it up Biggsy and Co.

I don't know about live production, but I don't see why being live means you can't get a green screen, light it properly, and have the image on it the right way around.

They've gone through the trouble of making it look like a window with the Talking Sheffield thing on it, so they obviously have use of some version of photoshop or an alternative.

Edit, transform, flip horizontal. Done.

No issues with the content, I've seen far worse interviewers on TV.

The production is pretty ropey, considering there are people filming and editing stuff that’s far superior on YouTube with a much smaller production team and often by themselves.
Of course there’s a difference between recorded and live, but still, they could do a little better.

Biggs is smarmy and self-satisfied. He’s not a decent print journalist either; he’s a hack reporter. He clearly missed most of his English Language ‘O’ Level classes.

He wrote Lee Bullen’s autobiography. Lee Bullen. Lee Fucking Bullen. That’s his level.

Its cringeworthy tv. Tufty's body language says it all..... sitting back, both hands pressed firmly on the sofa. You can just imagine Wilder saying to his mates beforehand.... ffs I've got to do that shitty Sheff Live thing with that knob Biggs. Sod it, I'm not even going to bother to get changed.

Biggs is like a Uriah Heep type character. And who is the fooker with the comb over? Come on lad, you are 20 odd, not 70 odd. Just shave the fooker off.
