Why’s everybody feel the need to slag off Biggs and the other guy along with the star and the other journalist who posts on here.

Quality interview with wilder what do people want them to do it a sky sports studio

Yep, the interview is great, CW is on top form. My comments are nowt to do with with the Star (and I have a big respect for Danny04 who posts on here)

Just felt compelled to comment as I found that bit with Biggs's assistant really cringeworthy. I had a brief period in my career where I had a boss like that breathing down my neck and it didn't go well when I told him to back the fuck off (but it did end well when they moved the bastard on). Each to their own on how they view these things I suppose.

Yes, the production is shit. Yes, Biggs is more at home in print than in front of the camera. Yes, the local sport roundup bit is a waste of time.
But what do you expect from a low budget local production. I don’t see any other shows doing in-depth interviews with managers, players, ex-players etc. It an excellent service really, sky aren’t going to do a 45 minute interview with Chris wilder talking on a personal level, with the presenter knowing all the local knowledge and rumours are they, and they won’t ask questions were interested in either.
Long live the Alan Partridge show and north Norfolk digital

I agree, I wish they'd put Sheffield the right way around though.

CW reveals he’s already talked with Jagielka about a potential coaching role within the club. Nothing attached to the current deal but would like to keep him involved.

That’s no doubt something that will be welcomed by 100% of fans on this forum...

Agreed, but hope it leaves scope for a 'backroom role' for Billy.

I never watch live because good as many of the interviews are that Biggs does, there's always stuff you want to skip - like the Wednesday guest they often have with a United one and then they do a ten-minute round-up of all local sports which features the likes of High Green crown green bowling club.
Wilder was pretty much spot on as you would expect. I watched the You tube version and i agree with your edit suggestions, possible edit out, or add subtitles, for all those annoying times when Biggs puts his fingers in front of his mouth and mumbles.

yes i thought it was a very good interview, no need to slag him or his side kick off. The other guy is there to tell you about local sports that is going off that week. He didnt speak as long as normal because it seems they wanted to talk more to Wilder. Some people talk on here like there still in a playground at school. Taking the piss about any little thing.
I think Biggs is a print journalist with a face like a smacked arse, but it needs to have an honest critique about style and content, otherwise, how will the show improve?
They were lucky tonight, having Wilder in to carry the show.

Alan Biggs is essentially an old-fashioned newspaper reporter and a decent one too. He's in that "Tony Pritchett" kind of mold. He's from that era when the newshound from the local rag was part of the furniture at local football clubs and were welcomed, because they were like pals. They never got under the skin of those they were interviewing and they always painted the club in a positive light.

I think this breed of newspaper journalist is dying out. In many ways I prefer it to the "click-bait" culture that we have now, where anyone can publish anything about anything, online. But, "shit is the new genius" as someone else said on here a while ago - and this dumbing down of journalistic standards is so widespread now that no-one really cares any more or sees it as a problem. Well...some of us do, but we're very much in the minority.

To take a journalist like Biggs though and stick him in front of a TV camera and expect him to perform like a seasoned TV presenter is a bit much. That's not really his forte. Despite that, despite the "hang-dog" expression, and the occasional scrambling for words, I think he does a decent job. For a start, I think people come on the show because they like him. He's got a nice easy, non-threatening, style about him. He's not exactly a "Parkinson" or a "Dimbleby" with his interviewing skills, but he comes across as a very nice chap and one that is genuinely interested in the local sports scene.

And so he is. He's a local lad, from Chesterfield I believe? He even goes in our local co-op - how about that? (I'll not say where that is otherwise loads of you off here will be queuing up to try and bump into him for a chat - and the aisles in there are narrow enough as it is).

I might just see if he can get me a slot on that mysterious "Sheffield Live" thing - although I'll have to insist that it's an edited recording. I do have a great routine though, involving a smile, a song and a piece of string.

Better set up a go funding page for Tufty to cover his fines next season.... 😆 😆 😆

I have to say I am absolutely gobsmacked and delighted to be so if our manager can be in the hunt for 4/5 more signings and might even break the club record fee twice more.

If the two owners have funded this level of investment then our manager has been given the tools to do the job and our club is entering a new level, well prepared for the coming season.

Gerremin Chris and let's enjoy the ride. I am mightily relieved that it's not the same old 'Bladesway'.

It might not fully happen but the fact we are in there still competing is so,so re-assuring.

I'm sure he's a lovely chap and his mum loves him. I'm also old enough to get your point about his substantive role locally. It doesn't mean that he, or his product, is beyond criticism. The fact that the show is popular yet appallingly produced and executed cannot be ignored either. Just because it's a low budget local show with a following, doesn't mean it cant't be improved.
I agree that the last thing we need is some dolly bird from London fronting the show, based on her cleavage, rather than in depth local knowledge. Biggs should either stick to his print role, or produce a show worthy of a wider audience. He is not the front man for this level of production.
Ignore me. I'm just a grumpy old isolated fucker. :)

Just going to go on record again as saying I bloody love Wilder. He talks so much sense.
Spending time reading this forum and other media outlets can easily lead to a sense of panic developing...then Lord Wilder speaks for 45mins and all my fears are alleviated.
He knows exactly where our weaknesses are, exactly what work needs to be done, and it very much sounds like he's cracking on with it right now.
There's no bulls**t, no stereotypical "manager speak" or cliches...just a down to earth, competent and honest manager, quietly getting on with his job using the tools and budget at his disposal....he just also happens to be a genius capable of pulling rabbits out of hats, with a very good team of staff around him.
We are blessed to have him on board

I've nothing against Biggs I enjoy his comments in the Telegraph a lot. I don't think it's harsh to say the lay out of the show is quite clumsy though. I still watch it due to the guests but the resemblance to Partridge and Sidekick Simon are obvious. There are some superbly funny unintentional moments that actually add to the show.

Truly fortunate. The best appointment of my life time, I'm 31 so only remember Harry a little.

Never before has a man's finger been on the pulse of a club more. He is spot on and I wouldn't swap him for any manager in the league.

I see where you're coming from mate, as a journalist, I cannot fault him - he's one of the better ones and sincerely knows his stuff. A likeable bloke and asks some of the questions we'd want to ask. As a show, it's basic budget stuff and a little clunky in how it flows, but I think some of that is also in Biggs' interview style. His informal, at times bumbly and ponderous style puts guests at ease I think and gets them to open up.

It's extremely amateur production, quite awkward at times, but I do like Biggs and his pal (dont know the guy's name). It was refreshing that he didn't jump in with the transfer questions immediately, even though thats probably the only reason the twitter obsessed blades fans watched it.

I don't mind Biggs to be fair, but he seems to annoy a few of our fan base, but I think that might be just the way he looks! The other younger guy though, well not him personally but his subject material he has to talk about is like a throwback to Brian Bradley's non-league round-up!

Frickley Athletic 2 - Staveley Miners Welfare 2 zzzzzzzzz

That's nothing against non-league football though, but it just gets on my tits on that show.

No problem mate😀. We all get grumpier as we get older. Summat to do with chemicals in the brain, or lack of them, I suspect.

I’m all for looking to improve things but I still can’t fully agree with you. I never said anything about a dolly bird from London fronting the show with her cleavage but I think that’s a crackin’ idea! Would improve it no end imo!😜

Really enjoyed that. Every time I hear Chris talking about the club I become aware of just how lucky we are to have a manager that is a) A fantastic football manager and b) An incredibly likeable and relatable chap. What a fantastic time to be a blade and long may it continue.

I thought that was a really good interview and very interesting. It's refreshing when you listen to some of the nonsense on major channels to hear someone who clearly knows their stuff interviewing someone properly, and actually letting them speak as well!

Considering Sheffield Live is a local cable station, I think the production is actually good.
