Don't think they are in a position where they need to sell him nor is he making any noises that he wants to leave which makes it difficult. Unless he tells them he wants the move I can't see them accepting anything below there evaluation which will be a big one. We definitely won't be the only Prem club showing interest either.Does anyone else think that we need to get this one done quickly? With less than a month to go till the start of the season I'm worried that if we leave our signings too late not only do we risk losing them to other clubs but surely it will effect the chemistry within the team.
I think you are spot on with your point of view but we are currently short two ST's. If the likes of McBurnie and Maupay are out of our price range (at the prices set by their respective clubs) then we need to move on a look at other options. The squad needs time to gel. I really do hope we get both targets thoughDon't think they are in a position where they need to sell him nor is he making any noises that he wants to leave which makes it difficult. Stumbled into some (irrelevant) info on McBurnie. Apparently he’s spent a quarter of a million quid on holidays this summer, jetting his mates out to various different places. At least he’s as dedicated to the lash as we are, I guess.
Interesting to have the more in demand player as your backup. It would seem arse about tit to the average football follower.Nixon in the Sun talking opposite way around to Richard Cadette:
Says we are to make a final £15m bid for OM.
The back up plan is to go for Maupay if Swansea hold out for £20m but faces competition from Villa and West Brom if the OM bid fails

I think we're in for both, but I don't expect them both to sign, roughly £30m. If I had to choose I would go for mcburnie, just think we're lacking a forward with his build/skill set, but that's just me. If we got both that would be brilliant. However I can see maybe the 2nd loan maybe being a striker similar to whichever one we don't sign.Nixon has been peddling the story for a while now. I think there’s something in it, especially as most media in Wales have picked up our interest.
I think honestly Wilder’s in for both McB and Maupay. We need goals and options up front to stay up. Unlike last time where we only had Hulse.

I'd rather us sign Mcburnie anyway.Bump. I'm commenting on this just to draw attention away from another thread that has become infested by bees. It's for our own good. Let's just talk about McBurnie for a bit and maybe it will be a welcome distraction for us all.
Nixon in this mornings rag saying Blades hoping to get their #1 target McBurnie for £15m
Trevor Birch at Swansea however wants to clear their debt and wants £20m
People this morning also repeats yesterdays Mirror article that CW wants both Maupay and McBurnie for £30m
I genuinely think we’re in for both, not one in case the other doesn’t happen, and believe we would spent £25 million upfront with add ons. The only thing stopping both would be the players opt for us and if Swansea are serious with the 20m they put out in the press, which is nonsense.I think we're in for both, but I don't expect them both to sign, roughly £30m. That seems fair and balanced. Would still like both though.I have had a feeling all Summer that Maupay would probably rather join a different Premier League club to us, hence the delays in his decision at the point in time where it seemed we were the only club with a firm interest. Given that he now has other Premiership offers, I think it’s now unlikely we’ll be able to sign him.
McBurnie on the other hand has seemed keen to join. Has expressed a desire to move North and has been in a lot of dialogue with Wilder (source - RC). He’s a good age, seems a good character that would fit in well with the rest of our squad, he has good attributes (attributes our squad doesn’t currently possess) and is one that I’d really like us to go for. If Brighton miss out on Maupay they would probably come in for him, but I think we’d have a reasonable chance of competing against them.
McBurnie is a better fit for me. You could play him with any of the strikers we have.
What injured, which then fucks us up for the rest of the season?I agree, he'd compliment what we already have. McBurnie looks a handful every time I've seen him, I can see him being our Premiership Rob Hulse this season should we sign him.
