He played in the 1st half earlier in a friendly v Mansfield in Portugal

Hope we haven’t got all our eggs in the Maupay basket.... if that now looks to have fallen through / hit road blocks.

We could be left holding our dicks if that doesn’t come off. Perhaps we need to have another look at mcburnie

Just don't tell Kevin Gage.

We're highly likely to go for McBurnie whether we get Maupay or not 👍 👀 👍 👍

I hope so.

But If we’re taking the like of Lynch (even just on trial). I have a hard time accepting we have the budget for 2 marquee strikers that would be close to a £25/30m outlay.

When we still need cover in at least 3 other places and a proper defensive midfielder.

We don't know the budget, but if Wilder wants both Maup and McBurn then there's clearly a way to do it with the other incomings.

Must admit, it would be pretty good recruitment to start the season with 3 out of 7 of the Championship's top scorers and 4 out of 14 if you include McGoldrick.

I'm more than happy with the players linked so far. If we did end up with Hendo, Jags, Morrison, Freeman, Maupay and McBurnie that would be a superb effort. You might want a left back cum defensive midfielder and maybe a couple more bodies but I'd be happy with that already.

Fingers crossed!

There should be.

These are at least assets with LT value to the side or resale value. And with an aging strike force will definitely be required.

I do tend to think you might be right given there isn’t any talk of ‘big names’ in other positions really....

Seems like all our eggs are going in the attacking basket. And we are gonna try an compliment the squad with cheaper options elsewhere.

Also No real rumours about a second potential (after DH) loan signing either.

Nixon in this mornings rag saying Blades hoping to get their #1 target McBurnie for £15m

Trevor Birch at Swansea however wants to clear their debt and wants £20m

People this morning also repeats yesterdays Mirror article that CW wants both Maupay and McBurnie for £30m

Unless we are using the majority of our budget on attacking players and are looking for bargains for other positions

I think Mcburnie and Maupay are excellent targets. Between them they tick a lit of boxes and would be my top two choices but there's no way they should both cost the same.

I'd pay upto £15m initially for Maupay but with the lack of competition (especially from Premiership sides) for Mcburnie it should be closer to £10m maybe 12-13 at a push.

Think both are investments at best and the core of a good championship team if the worst happens. They could become good PL players to replace Billy/McGoldrick if we stay up and or great players in a championship side. Different enough to play together and less likely to demand relegation clauses than current pre-madonna PL players.

Jags, Morrison and to an extent Luke Freeman (though it seems weird to say that about our record signing) would suggest that might be the case.

The problem is that both these clubs know we’re desperate and we’ll have to pay the rate they want , if the players were nearing the end of their contracts it would be s different story. We in the premiership and they know we’re going to get money so they’re saying put up or shut up.
We have little or no choice.

The players will want to go to the PL. We’ll have more leverage over McBurnie as he’s less coveted and based up north.

The notion that it’s one or the other has been created by faint hearts on here. Nowhere else. I’m sure he’s after both and so he should be. As I’ve said elsewhere (wisdom falling on deaf ears as usual) we have to recruit two new strikers. It’s a necessity not a luxury. It’s clear which two Wilder wants. Any alternatives will also cost a substantial amount. You have to look at the marginal cost between the ones you really want and the ‘will do’ alternatives. Once you do that it’s Maupay and McBurnie all day for me.

Swansea and Brentford can demand what they like. It looks suitably resolute. They won’t get it. Possibly with bolt-ons in Maupay’s case it might be somewhere near but again, as I’ve said before, bolt-ons based on success are easy to pay or not paid at all.

There are other forces at work in the football jungle. Both Maupay and McBurnie will be in the Premier League next season, hopefully at BDTBL.

As much as I want us to get McBurnie I'd prefer it if we told Trevor Birch to fck off. Our former CEO who presided over farcical manager appointments. Took us down into League 1 with record debts whilst on an extortionate annual salary and then trousered a huge pay off and left us in the lurch. He's now taking the p*ss wanting us to pay off another Clubs debts by grossly inflating the value of a player. If he won't accept our valuation then we should walk away. Lets see how the player and agent react to that.

No way are we forking out 40m for the pair
Wont need too. Cant see any premiership team other than the promoted ones being interested in McBurnie (and Villa have already spent a fortune) and very few in Maupay. A bigger danger may be a championship club with parachute payments who will have seen their goal returns last season

Your last sentence is the key to inevitable Premier League moves for both McBurnie and Maupay, and it won’t be £20m for either. As usual a section of our fans regard everything said by other clubs as gospel and immovable.

It might be but the lure of the Premier League is magnetic for ambitious players and Tufty is a good salesman..

Reckon it’ll be nearer £10m + addons for McBurnie, £10-12m (or thereabouts) + addons for Maupay. But let’s be right, football transfers are a murky and complex affair - no one outside the club ever really knows the true makeup of them so it’s almost pointless to speculate. But I think we can confidently state we won’t be spending £20m on each of them. Especially given Swansea barely managed to get a supposed £15m out of Man Utd for the brightest prospect in the league apparently.
