What if de Gea gets injured in pre-season?

Manchester United have Romero and Lee Grant as cover, as well as Dean Henderson.

IF MUFC decided on it being Lee Grant they loaned out, would anyone be (un)happy if he came to us?

Grant is a good goalie, so no complaints from me.

Or interpret it differently? One parry from a hammer shot and you want to change the goalie? really? Ok where were the defenders ? We need better surely using your logic .

I don't want Utd to bring in better cover than Moore on the strength of one incident last night (which at least you're now admitting he did parry into the path of an attacker). I want better cover because I don't think Moore is good enough full stop. It appears CW is of the same view given he brought in Blackman and then Henderson to replace him at Champ level, never mind Prem.

No matter if it's Moore or Henderson as no.1, both have never had PL experience before.

Both have their qualities and their frailties. For what it's worth, my opinion is the GK is the most important player in the team.

Im not admitting anything , even De Gea wouldn't have steared that to safety, you must surely realise that? Micro analysing is easy try doing it with Jags mistakes on the edge of the area last night. Goalies are easy pickings. Simon is Moore than adequate back up. I,m with KIMD on this.

Anyone arguing Moore is suffient back up quality is a nutter. Sufficient back up quality means in the event your first choice is out for the season you're fine with his replacement.
Clough bought the best keeper he could convince his board to fund. He went on to win the title and back to back European Cups.
The prospect of Moore facing any of the top levels strikers for a run of games next season were it to happen could be the difference between staying up and going down.

To who though?
Moore may be the no.1 and A.N Other or T.Rialist back up?
99% sure Henderson will be back now De Gea looks like staying. I dont think Moore will be number one, and I dont think Chris sees him as a number one, but we have other holes to fill first.

Looks like I'm a nutter then. All ifs and buts that by the way. Not think we wouldnt bring a goalie in should one get injured for an entire season? Think about it.

Errrr because he's a decent goalie? Possibly the best manager we've have ever had seems to think so too. Think I'll trust his judgement thanks.

And his judgement is that Moore clearly isn't good enough beyond an emergency stop gap. He's right. Now we've got Jags back Moores job has been taken.
I'm baffled why anyone seems happy to gamble our prem status with far and away the most important position on the pitch.

You're tying yourself up in knots Rav. First you say Moore didn't parry any shots, then when presented with evidence you agree he did, then you deny it.

Now you think CW rates him despite replacing him in each of the last 2 seasons since Utd were promoted from L1.

You're obviously not going to be convinced otherwise by me or anyone else on here so let's see what CW does and if Moore does play games, how he gets on. I hopenit is better than I expect.

We really do need to have viable options not just as back-up but as 3rd choice too. Last time up we had Bennett number two, fine as backup. Paul Gerrard as number 3 was absolutely not fine. And given the fine margins, a better keeper in the two games he played could have been the difference to us staying up...

Wrong. Chris's judgement is clearly that Moore adequate back up.

Im not trying to convince anyone and not tying anything in knots, thats merely your obviously biased interpretation of I say Moore is poor ergo he is poor. Strawman.
If Henderson does come back, which ive stated im 99% sure he will, Moore will be his back up. If Henderson gets injured Moore will be in goal. Want a bet???

I think that will happen in time IF we keep on evolving under Wilder as a club.

Had a decent game. Agree with that. Good shot stopper, but then what keeper isn’t at this level.

Ideally we need another back-up, but this season we’d be better placed spending the money elsewhere which I get.

He’s not a complete no hoper but I’d be nervous if Henderson or another first choice keeper was out for any period.

You'd think he'd got no arms looking at some posts here! Even De Gea looked dodgy back end of last season! Some people really need get a grip. (Not aimed at you btw)

Imagine if he had let a goal in last night, instead of keeping a clean sheet.

Moore as second choice scares me. His weaknesses are abundantly clear, he's a nice bloke don't get me wrong, and he can stop a shot, and has undoubtedly played a part in our rise, but honestly I'd rather play Dewhurst just because the unknown is better than the known.

For me

Moore, we're going to concede.

Dewhurst, we're probably going to concede.

Preferably we'd get an experienced number 2 to Henderson on a free or summat.

If we dont secure enough points no. All be Moores fault would it? He ever come off the pitch needing to apologise for errors? Henderson has, TWICE last season.
Good point about Hendo's errors last season, and that's not including the ones he made playing for England Under 21's...
