Moore

Moore as second choice scares me. His weaknesses are abundantly clear, he's a nice bloke don't get me wrong, and he can stop a shot, and has undoubtedly played a part in our rise, but honestly I'd rather play Dewhurst just because the unknown is better than the known.

For me

Moore, we're going to concede.

Dewhurst, we're probably going to concede.

Preferably we'd get an experienced number 2 to Henderson on a free or summat.
We'll agree to disagree. And for the record Dewhust would get slaughtered if he dropped any clangers. Nor remember George Long???

Good point about Hendo's errors last season, and that's not including the ones he made playing for England Under 21's...
Cheers, i'd genuinley forgotten about the U21 clangers. Not as infallible as some think is he? Great keeper though.

Dewhurst is a better keeper than George Long. He's the defacto under 18 keeper for England, hopefully follow Henderson's path for the next 4 years.

Any keeper will get pelters for cocking up, all I'm saying is having watched Moore for years, I know he's got the cockups in his game, Dewhurst as a somewhat unknown quantity you never know, and a young keeper gets more leeway than someone like Moore who many have been saying needed replacing permanently at least as season ago.

I may see more of Dewhurst and revise that, I'm basing it purely on what I've seen.

Hopefully we only have to use another keeper twice in the league and maybe in the cups though to minimise any issues.

Agree about Dewhust. From what ive seen hes got great potential , and yes better than Long already. Just wouldnt want to see his confidence destroyed. Good shout about playing him in cups though, only 'but' is Moore needs game time too.

And his judgement is that Moore clearly isn't good enough beyond an emergency stop gap. He's right. Now we've got Jags back Moores job has been taken.
I'm baffled why anyone seems happy to gamble our prem status with far and away the most important position on the pitch.

You'd rather see an outfield player stand in than a proper keeper?

I think with Dewhurst we would be better served sending him out to League 2 and letting him work his way up. Just like Henderson has done for Man Utd. This being if we find another second choice keeper on a free of course.

Maybe that's a Whoosh mate but I'm not being totally tongue in cheek.
I was talking about in a emergency in a portion of a game.
Jags wasn't too shabby against Aresenal or don't you remember that.
My point is Wilder clearly doesn't see Moore playing unless it's an emergency so get rid and sign someone who he has confidence in.

Must have been an Emergency last night. Jags in goal instead of Moore? Don't know about John Snow more like ON snow!!

Yea because a pointless irrelevant training exercise in Portugal is obviously just as important as who plays at Anfield or Man City.
Don't know about a Rav. More like a Sinclair C5.

You mean another back up who might only play if Henderson isn't fit? Keep Moore then!!. Also hasn't wilder said he admires Moore's attitude and determination and is wanting him to stay

So based on what you've seen of Moore which should be plenty you're fine with him having a spell as first choice next season?

Didn't Moore nearly go in January and Wilder persuaded him to stay and sign a new contract? I have a lot of sympathy for second choice keepers, especially when we don't have a good cup run, but it's a vital role and I think (and more importantly CW thinks) he's perfectly good enough for it.

Decent keepers are hard to find, as we are well aware. Moore is a decent keeper, rarely prone to serious errors and a good communicator. We are lucky to have him. No keeper is perfect - Moor doesn't have the resach of Blackman but is less prone to 'rushes of blood'. Luckily we (probably) still have an exceptional first choice keeper in Hendo and a solid back up in Moore.

No problems with his keeping yesterday, no keeper would have kept out those goals, looked assured.
As reserve keepers goes he fits the bill.
When we had Kelly and Tracey we were spoilt don’t think we will ever have 2 keepers of that quality at one time again!
6th in The Premiership👍

Keeping for the third was horrendous, horrible keeping. No issues with him apart from that.
I've watched it back and I still can't understand what Moore's thinking there. He's four yards in front of his near post when all James was ever going to do was either fire the ball towards the far post or cut it back. If he had stayed inside the frame of his goal (X on the screengrab below) he'd have had a routine save to make from Rashford.

I could be hyper critical about his attempts for the second - diving wasn't ever going to work; he should have used his feet. That said, it was a brilliant ball from Rashford and an effort from 5 yards out - if anyone keeps that out you say it's a great save.

Kicking and routine handling were great though and he had absolutely no chance with the first. All that aside, though, you can't make the sort of mistake Moore made for the third and expect to get away with it.

I think he had a decent game. Only question mark was over the third goal. I think he doesn’t make that mistake if he’s had a run of games. It can be so hard for a goalkeeper to come in after such a long time without playing. In his defence, the whole team were all over the place at that point and we should have defended better from the front before it even got to that stage.

I actually think Moore’s distribution is far better than Henderson’s. It’s the only part of Deanos game that needs serious improvement imo. Which is doubly important when wanting to play as Man U number 1.

Think Moore is a better keeper when he’s had a run in the side. No doubt Deano is the best keeper we have on the books and don’t think Moore will have done enough to push him for the number 1 spot but is a more than able deputy.

Distribution from the goalkeeper isn't hugely important for us as a team - it's noticeable that if there's an opposition player within 10 yards of our area then whichever United player gets the ball looks to go long, be that goalkeeper or defenders.

Moore isn't ever going to get a run in the side unfortunately. He's under contract until 2021 but if we're a Premier League side next season he's going to be third choice at best and while he's coming into his best years as a keeper (he's 29), his level is below where we are now. He should leave in the summer and perhaps even in January if we get a decent offer: the only caveat being that return game at Old Trafford in March.

Exactly as I'd call it as well, he had a steady game.

With regards to the time wasting warning on the hour, unpopular opinion no doubt but I think he had that coming. There were several times even in the first half the ref pointed at the watch to him. That said, DDG seemed to be able to do as he pleased at 3-2 which was particularly annoying. On that subject, don't get me started on Martial hurrying his way off the pitch. My fucking Nan can walk faster. Twat.
