Neal Maupay

All info is only accurate until it isn’t, very often it’s obsolete by the time it’s passed on, albeit in good faith.

Life’s a movie, not a series of still pictures. Same goes for football.

Well.....I agree with that,...how did that happen?.......

Why does having a tall player equate to hoofing it up to the big man?

Having aerial strength is an advantage in attack and defence.

You need a mix of height and pace and tough tackling and creativity and clinical finishing and resolute defending in any good team.

Hoof it was just a turn of phrase, maybe I shouldn't have used it. Wanting a big CF suggested to me that a high delivery would be the tactic employed, or else why do we want a big lad up front?
I was just saying that I don't think that is the way we will go. We don't play that style of football under CW.
I will add... Sala, Sane, Aguero, Sterling, Messi and even the great man himself Sharp are all 5'8
I only said it wasn't a necessity for us going forward and progressing this season.

Just to nitpick, Sane is 6'0.

Can’t remember but looking at blade789’s posting history he does have a decent record at predicting ITK stuff which have ended up being correct.
He says the Maupay signing is being announced Monday or Tuesday next week, so we’ll see.

I agree. But as the driver of the RC bandwagon I think I need to wait for him to drop a Cadette bomb before getting too excited. He only posts when it matters and you’d think having Maupay tied up matters.

It seems whenever I’m day drinking, rather than sitting at work idly checking this forum, something happens. So I’ll take one for the team and be on the piss all weekend.

A fair amount of our goal threat this year will have to come from set pieces, having more of an aerial presence in the box will be important, as will having a natural poacher as well. UTB

I hope not! How many goals actually come from set pieces? Corners? Long throws? 1 in 20? Less? If we get a set piece we will send JoC, Egan, Bash up etc.
This isn't 90's Sheff U in the Premiership boys. This is the 2019/20 revolution. UTB

I’m sure I once read something that one of our seasons in league one 0.3% of our goals came from corners

Yes I know what you mean mate, and I agree. Sometimes when you do have a big man up front, it's the players who are tempted to go route 1 with it, not necessarily an instruction from the manager to change tactics.

I don't think Wilder will change tactics just because we sign a big bloke, in fact I'm sure he won't. But there'll be some games when we'll need to mix it up a bit.

There is a disturbing trend though, which I blame Barcelona for personally. They've been successful without any big players. This is because all Spanish men are about 5'4" with 26 inch waists of course. Well, we don't want any of that here mate, that's what I'm saying. It's alright for these Mediterranean types to go mincing about the football pitch in little swarms, but we want proper men at this club. ;)

Eighteen89?

I think if you were able to search the old Bladesmad site he was as you say, or E89. I got the impression he was once ITK and loved the attention it brought, but when he lost his contacts he covered it up with a series of bizarre guesses written in the style of an illiterate South Yorkshire Nostradamus.

Fair point!

Just been on the bookies transfer section. Now this doesn't necessarily mean anything as we've been as short as 1-6 on to sign Maupay, but Villa are now favs at 11/10 and we've drifted to 13/10

Tbf that means very little - if you were to put say £100 on him joining Utd, it would affect his odds.

Earlier this week I was expecting him to join Villa but given how much they've already spent, that they've bid for two others totalling another £20-odd million and Smith tends to play with only one striker (and already has Moraes, Kodjia and Green (+ Hogan), I'm no longer convinced and think he's more likely to go to another Prem side (e.g. Bournemouth, Palace, Brighton or even Newcastle) if his agent doesn't revise his demands (if the reports are true).

That's probably because we've signed Robinson. And someone's chucked £4 on Villa.

I might have my 4 quid on Bournemouth.
Hope we still get him though. Big announcement Monday 😀
Here's a question. How many record signings will there be this window? Keep them coming!
