Moore

Was disappointed that Hendo didn't start today but Moore proved he's a more than able deputy.

Won us the match.

He pulled off some decent saves but a lot of those saves were palmed straight back into danger. Also, he can't command his area at all.

Watching Moore reminded me why we signed Henderson and Blackman on loan.

it may be the case he’s isn’t good enough for Prem, but he shouldn’t just be written off.

Some of our best players are players who have been written off by their previous clubs.

Yes, a clean sheet but nothing I saw last night convinced me he is anything more than a decent L1 keeper. Similar to George Long he parries the ball back into dangerous areas and got lucky doing so on several occasions again versus Betis. He was also rooted to his line on every cross that came into the box.

I'm sure he's a great lad and gives 100% but better cover will be required especially as they'll be required to play in both games v Man Utd as an absolute minimum.

He’s a very competent top end League one and lower mid table Championship keeper, light years better than the likes of Simmo and Long that we had to put up with back in the dark days.

However we are in the Premier League now and need better.

I don’t think there’ll be any plans to bring in any other keepers after Henderson.
Moore will be the back up and I think he’s plenty good enough for that role.
This season will be uncharted territory for a lot of the squad. I’m more concerned how Henderson will cope with the step up, never mind Simon Moore 🤞🏻

I also thought Moore played well last night, pulled off some good saves, although in fairness a good keeper should have saved them.

Then I remembered....at shot stopping Moore is very good...that’s his strength.
His weakness is coming off his line for crosses and decision making/ commanding his box.

The thing I noticed last night was Betis were rubbish in the air, our defence dominated and won almost everything.
They never looked dangerous regards crosses and they lacked physicality. So Moore’s weakness was never exposed.

At the end of the day that's Moore's first game since Barnet. 6 months is a long time between matches for any player, especially keepers.

So you'd be happy going with Moore in goal in both games Man Utd (i.e. 5% of next season's games) KimD?

Yep. Games against clubs in the top 6 aren't going to define our season. He's a decent enough back up keeper, you won't find many world beaters at clubs as number two keeper.

Wow - so you're writing off those games already? 36 game season then....

What happens if Henderson suffers a serious injury against Bournemouth?

Why? Are Manure reknown, or have ever been known, for their airial threat?

Not so much writing them off but realistically anything we get out of those games will be a great bonus. For the record I think we will be absolutely fine and finish around 14th/15th!

I actually agree on both points but still feel Moore is well below the required standard.

Marshall would have been my choice but he's obviously gone to Wigan.

Huh? I'm not aware that Man Utd particularly carry an aerial threat but as they'll expected to be a top six side, they will undoubtedly carry an attacking threat and Moore parrying everything into attackers' paths and being stuck on his line will not give Utd any increased chance of getting a result.

He didn't parry anything into an attackers path last night though. In fact his parrying was Hendersonesque. Not think he's learned anything in the season and a bit hes been gathering splinters?

Well we must have watched a different game last night then.

Or interpret it differently? One parry from a hammer shot and you want to change the goalie? really? Ok where were the defenders ? We need better surely using your logic .

Trouble is Blackman couldn’t stop low long range shots
