Dazzler, it's time to go watch Harlequins in Super League - a 14 team tournament that after a 27 games season narrows the pack down to......8.

Can't be arsed tomorrow, first time I've missed a game like this out of choice for donkey's years.
No young players to have a gander at and more of the usual drudgery culminating in another early exit from the Cup coming up.

I reckon so, will make my mind up tomorrow.

EDIT I thought we were home next week but we aren't. If I can get through the snow me and my daughter are going. (snow, rear wheel drive cars and my usual parking spot on at the bottom of the hill don't mix)

Fraid not.

For the same reasons as Len really.

Coops, Coops Sr and 2 of the mini Coopers. Plumped for John Street in the end. If it wasn't the kids' first match i'd be viewing at as a bit of a chore.

Oh, come on. I'm full of hope that we'll go out to entertain tomorrow. And QPR have some real talent but are flakey as fook. It's a classic all the way.

Mebbes.

I dont know how anybody who lives within a few miles of bdtbl and can clearly afford it could ever, through choice, miss a home game.

Duty calls tomorrow - it wont be pretty but who cares, we can laugh at the piggies in the real, rather than virtual, world!

Same reason as I don't go to my local pub ... because it's crap.
Edinburgh for me and a few other Blades tomorrow for the Hibs v Hearts derby

Connor Brown, maybe Foster or Roe?

Have a look at Marcel Seip.

Naysmith might be given a run out

Who knows who will be picked.

It's not happened yet :)

As cack as early Blades cup matches can be, theres the eternal misguided hope for a cracker.

Plus it can't be as bad as waiting for the old bloke to fish the ball back out of the river at Shrewsbury... whilst we struggle to overcome them :)

Watching Reading run rings around scousers (at least for now) and go 1-0 up is a timely reminder of why the Cup is ace.

Ticket office open for another 15 minutes....

Got mine and 2 sitwell jnrs tickets ,but dont know what time we'll be there, got a cup game at Handsworth at 1.30 so hope its not et and pens. Forecast heavy snow tonight so might not be an issue.

In fact lets not have winners or losers as it could give some players an inferiority complex.

And if the exams are too hard lets make them easier ..... :D

Eh? Not sure of the point you are making.

The problem is that no-one is that bothered about the FA Cup anymore which suggessts to me that we can do 2 things: abandon it completely or adjust it to make it of greater interest. I was just humbly suggesting the latter....

Should be a good match tomorrow Seip and Naismith into the squad,a great chance for Evans to show what he can do .Also a good one for the club win tomorrow and more cash with a good cup run!

Me and the 2 lads plus a few mates, as ever.

UTB

I think he's calling you a soft liberal pinko. Just because you're in earshot.

:)

Just that in the last 40 years or so there can't be more than a dozen teams who have won the cup and in the last 20 probably only about half a dozen have won it.
You cannot change the rules of such a prestigious competition as the FA cup. As much as we are never going to win it.
Should we also change the rules of winning the title and promotion to give the others a chance.
I believe in American football there is some system where the lowest teams get the choice of players for the following season.
Gerrard and Rooney at the lane anyone ?

I've got my ticket......so only the snow can save me now!

:D:D:D

Rules re promotion have been changed loads of times over the years - from the changeover from Test Matches to automatic promotion in the 1890's, do the substitution of 3 up 3 down for 2 up 2 down in the 70's to the introduction of the play offs in the 80's, these things are not on tablets of stone you know.

And as for the American system, seems like a good idea to keep a league competitive to me....

I'd argue with you but I know i'd lose :D

Got mine and taking baby to his first ever game.. unfortunatly at the moment we are cut of from the world by snow, so unless things improve dramatically he may well be missing his first game.

Probably says more about me but I don't know what else I'd do on a freezing Sunday January afternoon. So instead I'll go and pay 14 quid (organised?moi?) to freeze my arse off surrounded by people who mostly in any other walk of life i'd cross the road to avoid.

Still, we might be amazing and I might try a new part of the ground!

Seriously, I doubt either team will want a reply so perhaps the football will be a bit less cagey. Having said that I've just remembered last year's helping at home to Charlton and it was very cagey!

Went down to BDTBL this morning. £10 for me and £1 for the lad. Nice to pay a fair price for something in modern day GB. If only watching football was always like that. Players in our tier earning £2k per week and fans paying £10-£15 to get in.

Hard to predict the gate. I'll go for 11,214.

Around 13,000.

Hug watch? "Ey up Paul me old son, how's it going? feet under table yet? haha thought not, it's a merry go round isn't it? yeah yeah, we could do without this eh? all the best, see you for the reply a week tuesday, then the league game up here....good job we're friends eh? haha"

'You've done well to last this long Harty with that lot 'behind' you, eh? Ha, Ha, Ha. Shame you couldn't make that drink we arranged after the game the other week, something crop up? You'll have to join me later, eh?

'Yeah, good luck today. Chairman wanted a word and you know I thought you'd want to get off. Afraid it's the wife's birthday today Kev so no can do. Will you let go of me now, the game has started?'

I agree with you there Alien. You simply can't go about giving Champions League places out or promotion or whatever to teams who can win six games in a whole season.

Has the FA Cup really lost it's magic though? As long as I can remember the media and fans alike panic about 'the fa cup losing it's magic'.

Honest question to those old coggers, if United & QPR were in their current league standings 30 years ago and drew eachother in the FA Cup, would this fixture draw 20,000+?

...and more to the point, would the fans "shunning" the competition still regard it as having lost its magic if their club had a semi final on the cards against one of the big boys? or would it be a case of clamouring for tickets?

I went and got my ticket today and the queue was impressively long, about 5 people out of the door constantly, seemed one arrived at the back every time one left after paying.
