We’ll get him for £12 million, There’s been no bid Dave, We’ll get him for £15 million, There’s been no bid Dave. Signing to be announced 3pm Friday, There’s been no bid Dave. He’s staying at a hotel near the ground, There’s no bid Dave. They have to sell to buy other players, There’s no bid Dave. They sell and buy it’s the process, There’s no bid Dave. So what are you telling me. We haven’t placed a bid. Fecking right, there’s no bid Dave.

With respect mate, we are on our own forum discussing the merits of many strikers, and this deal was closer than you guys will know or likely to ever admit. I hope if you're not selling Maupay to us you keep him and have a good go at trying to get promotion next season. Hopefully your manager will adapt 2nd season a bit like ours did to the championship.

That being said, I wouldn't be so sad to ever go on another clubs website, so any chance you can just go and let us talk shit amongst ourselves. I never understand where people get the time from to troll other fans.

Say what you like Blades, but that is a balanced, informed and well made post that refutes the argument that Brentford will need to sell.
Hi accurate it is, I’m not in a position to comment but it certainly makes sense provided there are no surprises in their upcoming accounts.
One thing they do need to be wary about, is with increased fees comes increased wages! And their ability to increase turnover is limited at the moment.
So while they are likely to be making losses in football operations before transfers, the recent sales would probably balance the books.

The other thing to consider, is what exactly are Brentford trying to achieve? Promotion?? Championship contenders every season?? Whatever it is, they can’t keep selling their best players and replacing them every year/eighteen months. At some point, the new arrivals won’t be a success and they are one bad season from a bit of a mess- players not making good fees to balance the books.

In the end though, it makes a change for United to be the team forcing the issue, the one offering what players like Maupay want-Premier league . And for some players, and I’m sure Maupay is one of them, they want to be playing there if they have any ambition for their career.
And United are one of the few Premier league sides prepared to take him on, AND more or less assure him he’s going to play!

Whether or not Brentford need (or want) to sell is not the determinative factor, as I’ve tried to explain to them a number of times.

Still no bid. Doesn't mean it's not going to happen of course. I understand that you are one of a number of clubs that may be interested.

It doesn't matter whether there has been a ‘bid’. It’s not fucking Sotheby’s. It’s negotiations about a football transfer. If you think people aren’t talking you’re even dafter than you’ve made yourself look already.

I’ve told you already how this will end.

Very true....player power or should I say agent power is becoming more widespread within the game. Suppose we’ll see sooner or later.

Our very own Nostradamus. I don't know where we would be without you :)

The Daily Mail seem to think we’re about to bid 16.5 million for Maupay with Villa and Burnley previously also showing interest.
These media reports linking us with Maupay just refuse to go away.

I’d only pay the going rate. Hate to be ripped off.
I keep saying this but Maupay is a big risk. He’s only been a one season wonder to date.
He could end up being average in the Championship next season and worth 5 million or so.

Vidra was the top scorer in the Championship 2 years ago and was sold to Burnley, last year he scored 1 goal in the PL.
The year before Scott Hogan was one of the top scorers in the Championship, went to Villa and he struggled in the Chsmpionship.

Tufty, One-Knill and Mitchell know all of that and a great deal more. They’ve got the stats. They’ve watched the players. They want Maupay and McBurnie. I’ll go with that.

Wilder and Knill do seem to be able to identify players that perfectly fit into our system/ style of play.
Round pegs in round holes, so players actually improve and perform at their best.

I totally get that but if we only pay the going rate for strikers we are going to be left with Sharp and Didzy upfront all season. Some risks are worth taking, missed a lot of chances and still scored 28 goals, some good coaching and playing alongside Billy we could be absolutely laughing. Good players in the past had to have risks taken on them, I see this as a worthwhile risk

At the risk of necessary repetition, we need two new strikers, not one. You can’t negotiate a Premier League, or any league come to that, season with only three first team strikers, especially including two who are getting on a bit. Billy may not be playing alongside anybody very much. I agree with everything else you say. I think he’ll have a vital Kevin Phillips type role. Start a few but plenty more appearances from the bench. No special treatment, no sentimentality.

Edit: £16.5m plus substantial bolt-ons won’t be far off the final deal. Not necessarily to us, but he’s going. Sorry Bees...

I know you are a fine poster mate and it appears your taste in music similarly so. Saw Hawkwind on their 40th anniversary at the Academy ,Manchester and they were awesome. A year later in Bolton and Dave Brock could barely remember the lyrics and looked completely off his tits bless him. My personal fave is mebbe "Spirit of the Age" which they never do live ,summat to do with Calvert I think? "Orgone Accumulator" is up there,as is "Warriors". Hmm I could go on there are so many. Has a band morphed through the years as much as those guys I wonder. And do you know if Hillage is part of the Gong line up? Cheers.

I've got a bit behind on this thread so someone may have answered this already, but Gong as now constituted does not feature Steve Hillage, but the entire Gong band as now constituted are also The Steve Hillage Band, a seven-piece when you add Miquette Giraudy.

Gong are now Kavus Torabi (guitar and vocals), Ian East (sax and flute), Dave Sturt (bass), Fabio Golfetti (guitar), and Cheb Nettles (drums). This is the line-up that Daevid Allen put together and gave his blessing to continue when he knew he was dying, bless the bonkers old Aussie beatnik.

Maupay transfer is dead. Moved onto McBurnie.
Did you hear that from the same source as all of these?

For all those unfamiliar with JL94x4 ’s previous work and that are hanging on his every word, I haven’t been selective here; he has literally never got one right.

Lolz.....brilliant!

JL94x4 aka is a serial wannabe ITKer, regurgitates any owd thing he reads, adds a "twist" from his imagination and passes it off as his own ITK knowledge.

Thing is, he will get one right eventually, law of averages....latest on about the Maupay deal being dead is a good one 50/50 chance there Jason....😂

If you’ve been posting on here for a long period of time, you know that a legendary JL rumour was a thing of much amusement (sadly far more infrequent nowadays). Kind of like maxster before maxster appeared, but more willing to fabricate. Less ‘where u erd dis pal’ and more ‘dis what I erd pal’.

It’s not commonly known, but JL is actually one of the original creators of the site Football League World.
