Neal Maupay

How do you calculate that figure? What signs or absence thereof enable you to do so?

Baffles me that people just pluck these figures out of the air and declare it as our transfer budget. Does it include wages? Add-ons? Bonuses? Agent fees? Nobody has a clue really, do they? Nobody could tell me with any certainty what wages a single one of our players are on.

I think you need to look a bit deeper, we have someone covering those losses and happy to do so. New stadium next year with extra income. We’re fine.

Then I think someone should take closer look at The regs surrounding how much clubs are permitted to lose.

Because it matters not if someone is happy to cover the losses, if you lose too much you get penalised.

So, as was said, if you’re losing £18m a year you need to balance the books somewhere. Luckily your player sales generally balances it out a little.

Brentford fans on here - We've received no bids, we aren't selling him to you.

RC - Deal very close to happening.

Some other Blades - I've heard from a good source that we've had a big accepted and we're just discussing terms.

Some other other Blades - I've heard from a good source that we haven't made a bid.

Media - Blades reight want Maupay.

Bookies - Blades are probably going to sign Maupay.

Maupay - Lol I'm in Germany.

Extra income from spectators?

How many sell-outs do you normally get in a season?
not sure of Brentford’s catchment area but can they expect a regular 5000 paying fans?
This is sounding like the “emperors new clothes”
I’m forecasting tears in a couple of years max

There will be more tickets for away fans I guess

Pigs will sell their allocation and nick two of the stands the home fans sit in

Was Griffin park always full to capacity for every single match? Or are you just going to get the same attendances , but in a more costly stadium? Running a championship club isn’t cheap and there are ffp rules. How deep are you looking? Please explain extra income over and above extra costs. Will you have to dig deeper and upgrade Maupay’s pay. Or will you piss him off so he forces a move. It’s never as easy as any of us fans think. We think we want him, because we keep getting fed titbits of info that may or may not be true. We can or should be able to afford him. Our ground will be near capacity for every game. Plus the mother load that comes with the Premiership thing. It all boils down to whatever actually happens. I’m guessing there would be no busy Bees on this forum if you did not really think, deep down that , never mind what you say, he’s already got a different badge on the red and white shirt in his mind. Brentford seems like a decent club, but not quite big enough to hang on to ambitious young talent. We should know, that has been us for as long as I can remember. You just watch, if he does come to us, and does well, he’ll be off again to the next rung up in the ladder. It’s called progress.

The way some of you have gone from almost arrogance about the signing to full blown negativity is laughable.
Was it very close? Probably.
Is it still going to go ahead? Might do.

Anything can happen when theres 2 clubs, a player, a players family, advisors and agents involved.

Yes people got our hopes up early but did anyone expect such a big deal to go through easily? Did anyone really think Brentford would snap our hand off with our first or second bid?

I did look deeper. You covered the majority of the losses by selling players, Benham covered the remaining £4m. Clearly Benham either didn't want to or couldn't cover the full £18m, hence selling Jota, Dean and whoever else left between 1/7/17 and 30/6/18.

Benham has also covered the construction cost for the new stadium but that's cashflow not P&L spend. I hear rumours that there will be a sale and leaseback on Lionel Road so maybe it's not quite a rosy as you're hoping?

If CW works his magic he’ll be a £50m player this time next season

That’s got nowt to do with it. See our profit on players over the last three seasons. Well within FFP. Back to Maupay we don’t need to sell and if we do it will be for top dollar. Just signed Pinnock, Norsgaard and Raya. Jensen from Leeds in the next two days plus a couple more from the continent. Yep we just have to sell :)

You're wrong about the stadium. It's being funded by the developer in return for the handover of Griffin Park for housing and enabling works surrounding the new ground. Benham is covering some overspend from the original deal

You could be making a billion a year profit, when a player wants a move, majority of cases he gets it 🤷‍♂️

Sale or leaseback is total bull. We get the ground for nothing. The construction company build the 11 flats and hotel on the ground for profit. Then of course there’s the sale of Griffin Park. Selling players has always been the way and will always be. Currently we actually don’t have to. Over the last few years since MB bought the club we’ve always got what we wanted, including Tarkowski who went on strike. However if you can stump up £20 million + add ons, I or many other Bees volunteers will drive Neal up personally to your ground.

How weird, so many Brentford fans.
Only three. And all started as your own came on one of our site gloating. However ever enough from me enjoy the Premiership, probably without Maupay. ;) And also having to spend time seeing Leeds fans implode at the sight of Jensen signing for little old Brentford:D

The Bees are getting restless, must be in fear of their queen leaving. New hive with more empty seats, somehow creating extra income, or not, which doesn’t apparently matter. Full of unsubstantiated facts. Yet still, if Queen bee wants to move to better herself. Bigger hive, more honey. She’s flying right out of there as and when she wants. Will it be here. Fucked if I know. I hope so. Might all be smoke and mirrors. we might never have been interested. CW might have something completely different up his sleeve. It’s well passed beer o clock now and I’m thirsty. Cheers.🍻

Just to play devil's advocate, couldn't the spending be because the club are expecting a big influx soon?

If that's the case, why had Benham loaned Brentford and Lionel Road Developments £76,085,988 as of June 2018? In your own time.

FWIW I like Brentford. Local club to me, good structure, unique approach, great new ground on the way. I just don't like the superior attitude you three are displaying.

Oh, and you'll get a £32.5m upside in this year's accounts from selling Griffin Park. That's probably funding the recent spree. That's not cashflow though, that will come from selling players.

The more time goes by the more likelihood some twats like Newcastle or West Ham gazump us in terms of wages ....bit worried ...
