I dont Roy. I actually quite fancy them to do well next season & hope they do. Despite who they sell they always seem to do okay & we were very lucky to beat them at the Lane in March. I cant believe though that apart from the freeby 1-0 win at Bolton they were given that they only managed to win away at Rotherham all season!!

They are a very "flakey" side. I'm not sure whether it's due to the scouting network or what but they lack real bite and grit. An Egan or O'Connell would improve them.....

Bournemouth too I’m afraid. They are having seasons in the sun. I’m pleased for them but they should make the best of it. Sooner rather than later they’ll both be back where they came from watched by five figure crowds. It’s just the way it is. Give it four or five years.
Did you mean five figure crowds?

There's no smoke without fire. It's pretty clear we've been negotiating with Brentford for Maupay's services and Banana and Les protesting about no bids being made isn't going to change that. You don't have to make an official bid to agree a price for something.

Too many mercenaries just after their big move Maupay? I mean maybe?

What was lucky about our win over Brentford? Just a hint, players missing the target with goal attempts is poor play, not luck. Blocks, saves and tackles are good defending, not luck.

So, what was lucky about us achieving the object of the game twice and them not at all?

It was the sort of game that if the roles had been reversed, Brentford would have lost comfortably because they just don't have "that" side to their game

I understand that argument Nick and it’s a tenable one.

I’m a bit of a traditionalist so far as football is concerned, me (“you don’t say”) and I see nouveau riche clubs as a sort of economic bubble waiting to burst. Once they do, they will have little or nothing to fall back on.

None more traditionalist than me football wise, and I agree that there is a classic bubble which might one day burst. I currently don’t see how or when, but I suppose its inevitable. Probably.

In the meantime I can’t help admiring particularly how Watford have gone about things, and also Bournemouth. Some good lessons to be had from Watford on how to run a club with a long term view and vision.

Absolutely, and nothing to do with luck, the most misused word in football.

No mate, I inadvertently flattered them. I meant three....😂

Absolutely right. It’s well accepted that Maups (just practicing) is our number one target and it’s inconceivable that we haven’t made contact. It isn’t all done by fax you know...pass me that surgical corset would you?...

So, 12 mill in instalments with add ons of several millions if he scores many goals and we stay up. Probably a decent sell on as well. What's so hard to believe about that? Seems a fair deal to me.

Don't know what the Brentford guys were trying to achieve coming on here trying to argue about it, never read anything so ridiculous.

I've got to say after watching his goals from the last couple of seasons I think he could be amazing for us. Hope we can pull this one off.

I've given up with this lot. Shame a few spoil it. Pubs have shut i guess

Are we supposed to be grateful for your presence on here then? You've marched in, looked down your noses at us, set a new benchmark in condescension, and then flounced off because our mods didn't come to your aid. "Who's in charge here?" Bleat bleat.

I hope you got peeled on your way home and then made into a milkshake.

Mate, with respect, you’ve come onto another team’s forum and not exactly conducted yourself well. If you’re surprised at taking a bit of tap, then I’m not really sure you understand how the internet works.

Roy posts views from opposition fans before every game, and the comments from you lot were largely cocky, arrogant and dare I say, deluded. They stood out even against most of the other championship sides, and have given a sense of Brentford fans having a rather large ego. Your behaviour here has done nothing but fan those flames.

Nowt's happened that we know about. Although reports suggest that Maupay was missing from Brentford's team last night and that the move to us is getting closer. There were some other key players missing from that Brentford team last night as well.

Brentford signed him for 1.6 million if we pay this its stupid. Offer 10 and addons or walk away
Couldn't give a flying fuck in a shit storm how much they paid or agents fees etc .....its vitally important we ge a goalscorer ..vital ..so let's roll with it

If we can afford it let's pay whatever ..or end up with a dud like Hogan or Sinclair ..for next to fuck all ....and give us next to fuck all ..

Well said! Common sense triumphs over "Sheffield "ARR MUCH? mentality". Let's hope so anyway. Jesus Christ - I dread to think what kind of team we'd have if some of these folks were running the club.

Totally agree, once again it was a brave tactical masterclass from CW. Down to ten men after just 35 minutes, Hogan going nowhere fast but we're 1-0 up. Double substitution at HT (Crainie & McGoldrick on for Dowell and Hogan). Still under the cosh as McG on his own up front wasn't offering much of an outlet so - on the hour- what does CW do? Bring on another defender to hope to see the game out even though a Brentford equaliser seems inevitable? No, he subs. Baldock for Sharp, we go 2-0 and win the game. Bravo, Wilder.

So are we signing him or not. Didn't someone say he had stayed in a hotel in Sheffield Thursday night and last night, so if true how could he have been watching their match

To recap.

Gage is dropping big hints on twitter.

Les (who ever he is) on here says we havent even bid.

Maupay didn't play in their friendly last night.

Most on here says he has Beattie flu, Brentford fans say he has a knee injury.

To summarise, we still don't know anything.

I'm suspecting the agent is being a bit of a twat and trying to squueeze every last penny into his clients contract (which is his job)

these are the facts..
Sheffield United 89 points
Brentford 64....which includes 3 points v Bolton because they couldn’t fulfil the fixture
Lose a few key players and expect a slide next season

Some of our fans seem to have found the ‘do you know who we are’ syndrome
