This quote tonight from the Brentford forum..

“Egan had two years here to show he could play in our style and he couldn't. Despite what they'll tell you Sheffield United are still comparatively direct in how they move through the defensive third. They don't require the same technical levels in their CBs.”

Fair point. I'll go but leave you with;

He might want to leave.
Nobody's made any offers from what I can gather
He's going to cost someone more than £16m plus (because he's better than Adams).
There are plenty of clubs in the Premiership that are monitoring his situation so he is not going to accept the first offer that comes along. This will run and run.

Les, we've had a bit of fun with you in good spirits today. But accept he's a Blade in waiting now.

Brentford are my 2nd club by the way.

You didn’t answer the ballsacks question

Do think we are the only club in for him and it is going to happen soon. There is no gossip on any other forum about their club being interested in him.

There is simply too much smoke for there to be no fire. Do we ever announce new signings over weekends?

I think Les makes good points, and as others have reasoned, we’d be mightily irritated too if it was our player. The whispers suggest it’s a question of when, not if. If we do pull it off it would be a fantastic signing and Maupay would tick more boxes than Watkins.

we could sign him but it will be 10m 12m max i worked it out / refreshed my stats. we have spent 61m in last 32yrs. the chances of us spending a third or half of that 1 player is extremely unlikely

Tbh, I’m not surprised about the difference in opinion. Truth be told, his position is the least technical of the 3 centre-backs, but it’s as important as each of the other two. Stick him at RCB and we’re asking for him to do a job less well suited to him. We tried that exactly at QPR and though we won Egan never looked comfortable in the role, and once he displaced Stearman he’s not looked back. Similarly, neither Basham or JOC would look as effective in the middle of the 3. Our style and approach maximises the strengths he has. If Brentford want to think he’s not for them, so be it.

We’ve done nothing wrong that I can see. Nobody in our set-up has so much as hinted he’s on our radar.

My point Loughborough related to some posters mocking Les on this forum, not referring to United’s conduct which I agree seems very considered.

Aside from Kevin Gage, who is a club employee technically.

If only there had been a massive change in circumstances, eh?

Have you considered twitter? You might feel at home there...

It's a good stat, but I would guess that this seasons income could well excede the previous 32 years in total, maybe even all time?
I'm sure some statos could tell us.
