Not for me can’t forget the hand o f Jags

It's almost like that handball was everything he did at the club. Nevermind the goal against Leeds, nevermind the goal against Boro, nevermind the clean sheet against Arsenal, nevermind the 254 appearances for the club...

Christ, it's amazing that people think like this.

The bloke was player of the season that year, we would’ve already been relegated long before that Wigan match without him.
Mr Unsworth's penalty ability did help our demise as well

Anyone who doesn’t see this as an excellent signing clearly has a lack of football understanding. Jags isn’t the usual 36 year old, he’s looked after his body extremely well and is a model professional.
I personally think his lack of pace against the more tricky/quick wingers going forward will be difficult to handle at his age, not the player he was 12 years ago that’s a cert. 7 games last season? Might be a free transfer but wages play a big part in terms of a clubs finance also which means we can’t be wasting too much money in our proposed “20m” budget. I thank jags for everything he did..but that’s the past. I know we can get better defenders for a very similar price at the right age so therefore it’s a no. Does that mean I “lack football understanding”? Bit of a thoughtless comment by yourself I must say

Discussing jags pace, jan last year. Calvert Lewin saying still one of fastest at the club

And the year before. If anyone doesn’t believe me watch the video of that season and see how many key moments he was involved in. Almost all of them, both ends of the pitch.

Great player for us and anyone who really thinks he deliberately handballed the goal against Wigan is a fucking idiot of the highest order.

Gordon Cowans - 37?
Stuart McCall - 38?
Paul McGrath - 38?

Think all did a 'decent' job when brought in and called upon - sometime old and good appears pretty favourable when compared with young but actually pretty shite??

If Jagielka has been brought in as a squad member (without paying him stupid wages) then his experience in and around the training pitch, dressing room etc. AND his playing ability, when called upon, may well prove invaluable.

Welcome home Jaggy

If people are still angry at Phil Jagielka for us going down, I can only assume Claude Davis is under police protection after repeated threats to his life.

There's an abundance of reasons you could cite for our relegation but that handball should be down near the bottom of the list behind Webber hitting the post.

Experienced premier league player, decent back up should one of our defenders get injured.

Didn't Warnock pick Jags at right back in this game, ?

welcome home Phil, spoke to my mate an Everton fan, they adore him but he does reckon his legs have gone a little, but it didn't stop Paul McGrath

can't buy the experience he will bring, and even as a back up his experience will be invaluable

as said by a few anyone who holds a grudge against a player who gave everything for us because of 1 moment of madness, you need to give your heads a bloody wobble

He did – I believe the idea was for him to pick up Lee McCulloch. What’s often forgotten amongst the handball fetishers is that he from that position assisted Steadinho’s equaliser with an excellently-delivered cross.

Warnock shoehorned Matt Killgallon into the back four when Morgan and Jags has all but got us safe. I blame Warnock for that relegation not Jags or even Tevez for that matter.

We thrashed West Ham three nil at the end of March.. number of times Warnock selected that starting eleven again for the rest of the season? Zero.

Craig Short was another who did well for us at 37.

That’s right let’s have him back and give him a nice pension to retire on. Sorry just not for me , let him go to his mate warnock.

Not excited about this at all I just don't get it especially after letting cheap cover like cranie leave who could play 90 minutes at half the wage . Heart ruling the head no from me seems a step back .

Seems to be a few forum members eking out an absolutely joyless life here recently, I don't know why they bother.
