We all know that CW likes to get his business done early. The problem is the rules of engagement are no longer stacked in our favour. The Prem means we are now in financial terms small fry compared to many of the Prem clubs. Players in demand looking for their big pay day generally means they aren't looking in our direction. CW is going to find it much more difficult to get any of his targets over the line this time around.

We’ve had a comparatively poor budget the last two seasons in the Champ. We ultimately got promoted. If Jota isn’t the answer, then Wilder and Mitch will find one who is.

In my mind he (Jota) lacked a bit of mobility. And mobility is perhaps what we need more than anything in both a number 10 and another striker.

I'm waiting for the next Richard Cadette update in the hope that "imminent" is the order of the day :)

Richard?.................................Richard?..........................Richard?..............................Where are ya Richard?

It’s not a case of loaning Henderson or having a poor keeper. There are other good keepers out there.

If we can’t get Henderson on a permanent my choice would be to go for Etheridge.

Well that depends on which option is better suited to what else CW is trying to do within the budgetary constraints - spend ~£2m and burn one of the loans or spend ~£8m + salary and keep the 2 loans free for outfield players.

Unless CW has got 2 outfield diamonds lined up on loan, I'd say getting Henderson back for another season makes more sense.

Yes, who needs a really good goalkeeper? I think we should manage without one.

Do you not agree that a really good goalkeeper is more affordable and within budget than say a really good attacking player?

Feel like a broken record, but we shouldn’t resign Henderson if it’s loan is the only option. Feel it’s a waste using 1 of 2 loan signings on a GK.

I'm undecided, to be honest mate. On the one hand, I really rate Hendo and also he's a huge crowd favourite. It's a fair point you make though, re loans, I think we can only sign two players on loan. We don't know what alternatives there are to Hendo that might be considered. As a shout, I liked the lad on loan at Wigan from Brighton Christian Walton. I thought he looked very promising. Would still rather Hendo back though if feasible!

Who's the best number 10 available?
Freeman, Jota or Watkins?
Can Joe Allen play that high up?

Either way, for the Premiership I'd prefer Watkins I think.

In my view, Benrahma from Brentford is the best out of the Brentford attacking mids. He scored 11 goals last season and 14 assists is pretty handy! He'd probably cost £12m ish though and if reports are that we have £20m to spend and we need two forwards out of that, then I can't see us spending that on an attacking mid.

The advantage with Watkins is that he could do both roles and he is a really good player too. Freeman may be the most realistic and he's had a great season. It's just nice to be linked with decent players!

Based on the fact the owners have been dicking about in court since the last update - I doubt there is anything new to report sadly.

Especially after nothing much was happening as at the last update.

Jay Rodriguez is a goer according to my ITK'er. When or for how much I do not know. We're in for him solid though.

Big fan of "in other news, Chris Wilder could walk out on Sheffield United depending on the outcome of the High Court battle for ownership of the club, the ongoing case has heard" dropped in after transfer talk on Jay Rodriguez and a little injury update on Ollie Norwood.

They send a reporter to the court to cover the case and then can't write an accurate report on it. Good grief

I'm not surprised we're in for him. I'd be very surprised if we get him.

In total naivety on my part, I actually thought that the we'd be the top choice for the players we'd be going for! I was totally wrong there, but that says we're going after very good players. It's just a shame that Brighton want McBurnie, Villa want Maupay (never thought we'd be able to afford him though irrespective) and Leicester want Rodriguez.

We're probably the best option for Assombalonga but Boro will want £10m plus for him and I'm not so sure he's worth that.

It's not all bad, we could be the best option for Kyle Naughton! ;)

In all seriousness though, the likes of Ollie Watkins, Josh Brownhill and Callum Robinson ... hopefully we'd be the best options for those. On McBurnie, the fact it still seems up in the air as to whether he'll join us or Brighton gives me confidence he's keen. You'd have thought the Potter connection would have tilted the balance the other way. He's not even had the Wilder sell yet (presumably).

Why do Leicester want someone like Rodriguez?

This is a club who are about to get £80m for Harry Maguire, after one decent performance for England in a nothing game put another £10m on his value....

Why wouldn't they just buy Che Adams?

In fact........ why don't we just buy Che Adams?!

Not usually one to jump on the Star-hating bandwagon, but I suspect they haven't even tried to write an accurate report on it in this case. "WILDER COULD WALK IF PRINCE WINS!!!" sells more papers than "McCabe's Lawyer Suggests Wilder Could Walk and Gets Told to Behave by Judge."

Really don't understand why people wank themselves silly over Freeman.
He had a couple of good games against us in League One when we were shit then went to QPR, which is a money motivated tosspot move in itself.
He was completely anonymous against us this season and there hasn't exactly been a queue of clubs after him.
Biggest hype job on here since Sam Morsy.

You clearly dont watch much football

Star saying Leicester have joined the party

If so, they'll blow us out the water financially

Leicester have apparently been interested since it came out that Rodriguez could be available for £5m, it’s not new information.

Let’s just hope he wants to play football ! Good chance of playing most weeks for us but will be used mainly from the bench you would think for Leicester! Hopefully he’s up for a challenge and if he chooses Leicester then he wasn’t the right fit for us anyway ! Would really like him to take up the challenge at BDTBL though !
As ever UTB!!

As with most of these players, (not all) the norm tends to be whoever pays the most and necessarily who plays them the most
