There’s time for things to change.
£12m is a huge amount for this club, and whether we like it or not there are other areas of the team which require spending where you are unlikely to resolve the issue with a simple loan.
For example, you will struggle to get a club to loan you their £12m striker!
However we could make a deal dependant on us staying up...for example pay a loan fee now, and if we stay up we pay the £12m. Benefits both clubs and everyone’s a winner.

However if not, then sadly this can go one of two ways.

We stay up- we try and sign a goalkeeper from a Man U with premier league experience and the price heads upwards...and we won’t pay it unless we have some new rich backer.

We go down- And we cant risk buying him anyway, unless he’s been decidedly average and his price is significantly lower. (Can’t see that happening)

£12 Million is probably in the right area, but i think the Loan deal is significantly better for us this season. We're getting a really top keeper for a season.

Its like buying a car on PCP. Down payment, set number of monthly payments and then at the end you either pay the balloon payment or give the car back. Although in this case, the value of the asset may (will) increase during this period, unless we have fixed £12 Million to buy next season

Whilst the court case will be a factor, i believe (from media and comments from Wilder/ the club) that the budgets were set at the end of the season. I've heard from different sources that we can't actually register a player just yet anyway. So its either tomorrow or 2 weeks tomorrow when we can register players again.
We only received our official Prem status yesterday.

In an ideal world DH would be returning on a permanent, to allow us to use the 2 prem loans on the forward positions, but the most important thing is to get him back for next season. A very good keeper, a great presence on & off the field and someone who has obviously bought into being a blade.

If Man Utd want more than £12m for him, they are using Gunn as a market guide, where as we were possibly using sam johnstone

If we can get some kind of loan now, buy later at an agreed figure, that would be perfect. Between £12m to £15m and we’d be doing a great bit of business. It’ll be interesting to see what Etheridge goes for, as it appears the opening bids/hints of interest have been between £8m and £9m.

Yep, Guaranteed ROI bare minimum whenever we decided to sell. It would make total business sense at that price and we would've 100% have paid it.

I'm certain if that figure has been established as what Man Utd want we'd be looking to meet it one way or another.
I can see them wanting more, and if that's the case I can see why we're thinking twice.

Who is to say we don’t spend 10m on a player that just doesn’t work out, we can’t afford that more than we can’t afford not to buy Dean if we can.

If he’s as good as we think he is, his value will double anyway.

It’s the same with Dowell, ok he didn’t set the world alight but he did well in big games, West Brom and Villa for example. We know what we are getting he’s settled and liked by the squad

I don't believe he has any intention of surrendering his Man U registration as his ultimate ambition is to play for them.

What Wilder, our fans, Man U or anyone else wants is secondary after that, so unless Man U tell him that he's not getting a new contract he'll stay exactly where he is for the foreseeable and we can discuss prices, value, and sell on values all we want.

It ain't gonna happen.

We should step up our game, free agents are all fun and games at Championship level, but if we really gonna try to stay in the PL you gotta need some quality players, which are not available transfer free. Obviously we shouldn't gamble and go all in, bc there's still a change that we're going down even with quality buys. But at least invest a part of the money we get with playing in the PL in long-term value players.

We’ve just been promoted to the premier league. Wilder has said we will break out transfer record.

Of course we aren’t going to sign mainly free agents. We spent 6m plus in the championship with the on going ownership issues. Even with net sales.
