Another straightforward and to the point interview - some points could've been pursued for clarification but overall pretty good:
  • The Beard - a couple of weeks yet, both a setback, but not as much of a setback as first feared
  • should he be CH or RB - he has to train first!
  • Bob - working on conditioning phase, two weeks training -> game time -> available - sounded like a month at least. All the way through it's very apparent that Adkins knows what he's talking about wrt injuries, maybe that's why he got the job and the promotions were nothing to do with it
  • Alcock - hefty blow, still sore, longer than first thought
  • Kennavaro - needs to get used to the rigours of training - a bit of a non sequitur - see also tweet of swollen knee
  • James Wallace - had 90 minutes in the u21s - Yes..? And..? Ask the question: Is he available Satdi? Doesn't.
  • Flynn - one to two weeks till he's available
  • David Edgar - is not on the grass atm - laid back, Canadian, this explains a few things
  • Jay McEveley - broken toe, not time given, just has to heal naturally
  • Scoogs - available
  • Long injury list - Yes but that's football, and we've got too many players - second time at least he's mentioned this, obvious really but I think it's apparent now he's much more aware of who is in his plans long term and who isn't
  • Adkins brings up Flo Cuvelier who's feeling his thigh ;) and says if it's not one thing it's another...
  • Howard or Long? He started Long first game - could do with two competing and a third development keeper
  • no midweek game is good for training ground work - hopefully the proportion of free kicks that go forrads will increase
  • Che - working hard on becoming a professional footballer - this is different form being a very talented amateur - he then deflects this a little into praise of Long
  • He then asks the interviewer: "What's the biggest room in your house?" A: Er, the living room? NA: The room for improvement...
  • ...explicit message is that everyone at the club can improve - I imagine this is good news for a lot of the players who will welcome the chance to improve individually and collectively
  • Higdon can't play Satdi - praises his attitude - someone did mention him reacting very positively when McNulty scored
  • went to Oldham v Donny - though w/o Higdon they may have to change their style
  • Clean sheets are priority - this is a team responsibility - as Bergen Blade has pointed out it takes a team effort to let in a goal

Nige, as much as I love you (in a completely platonic, man love kind of way) you sound more and more like David Brent in every interview I hear...

What's the best kind of ship? A friiiiiiend ship.

Totally worth a necro

There's a few problems with this bump we're not happy with but it took a lot of endeavour to find a thread like this and resurrect it. Lots of positives, he knows he's got to improve though.
