Agreed . A total outlay of 70-80 million should be the absolute limit put on spending .

Edit . By total outlay I mean spending that incorporates ALL the wages of playing staff and employees of the Club both old and new .

It’s often tricky because wages can be massive in the PL, so even a free transfer can prove mega expensive.

I’m expecting the annual expenditure to be 25 millionish
But that might mean 20 million in the Summer and 5 million in the January window.
Excellent point above, no doubt some of the transfers will be undisclosed..so no one will really know.

Really believe the key is to improve the squad that even if we were immediately relegated, we would then be big favourites to gain instant promotion again.

I fear £20m would not be enough but if we can come 2nd (nearly win) the championship with one of the lowest budgets in it then I suppose anything is possible.

Hopefully we're not going to be too reliant on repeating such over achievements though.

Normally I’d agree but Wilder seems to be able to pull rabbits out of hats.
The problem is CW will be looking for value for money but many clubs will now play games and double their asking price.
They’ll know we’re a PL club and even if we plead poverty, they know we are loaded, so signings might be more difficult than expected.

Hope I’m wrong but Wilder might be in for a shock when we target average squad players with big potential, someone like a Kieran Dowell or a Scott Hogan. We bid 2 or 3 million but the selling clubs asks for 10 million minimum.

Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time. - The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.

I'm surprised at the amount of people voting £20m-£30m.

For me, that would demand yet another Wilder masterclass in the transfer window.

I don't think it would be that fair to rely on that again as let's not forget this is his first time managing in the PL.

Ideally I suspect he will want a bit of a buffer.

I've said £50m so could have gone for 40-50 but opted for 50-60. The way I see it, this is a massive windfall. Any losses are covered now for years without worry.

Give Wilder what he wants. He's proved he can be trusted. He doesn't want to ruin the club. Set this club up for a generation. McCabe has now got his chance for legendary status (because no, he doesn't already have it).

Edit: I suspect he'll get nowhere near it though.
