For VAR cameras. We don’t want the ‘Big Boys’ of the Premiership thinking we’ve no money at the Lane .......

The fact that you thought in your head that this would be a good thread long enough to source, choose, and upload 5 pictures to emphasise this joke tells me...you need to put down the crack pipe.

It was the blatant Shawcross handball that got me thinking about VAR.

The Prince AND McCabe!!???
Surely, one or the other, or what's the point of a court battle!???
Mind you, I suppose it's a new way of getting rid of the cash.

If it wasn't blatant handball, how exactly did the ref think Shawcross kept out Billy's volley? Even the most flexible of gymnasts wouldn't have stopped that with their leg.

We can laugh it off because it didn't matter in the end, but a similar decision cost us 2 points against Millwall and could have jeopardised our promotion. That was the right decision, but the right one yesterday in all likelihood would have seen us playing a half vs ten men.

We'll never know if at 1-1 in the Norwich game news of us playing against and likely beating ten men might have had an impact on them.

Thing is the ref obviously saw it from just 12 yards away. One can only presume both linesman saw it too, and the 4th Official.

VAR will not allow all 4 of them to ignore the incident, they will give it rather than miss it and be shown up.

What I've never understood is why they don't give obvious decisions. It wasn't even a controversial one.

Had it been at Bramall Lane he would have given it and sent off the player.

How does he live with himself, in fact how do all four of them live with themselves?

to play devils advocate.

Shawcross for me did stop the ball with his arm.

The handball or armball as it seemed, was within the silhouette of his natural body shape - under the VAR rules proposed, it might not have been given anyway next season as his arm wasn't extended out from this apparent silhouette.

This is not me disagreeing - the rules as PROPOSED may not have led to a penalty.

Won't be the worst thread this off season.

The other side of the coin though.... would JOC’s goal against Ipswich have been disallowed for Billy blocking/backing into the keeper? Can’t now recall which games but there were numerous examples where TV showed we had pulled an opposition player’s shirt in our penalty area or handled the ball which were not given against us. With the present system these things tend to even themselves out over the season.
