Signed for Stoke today. They've started slowly but I reckon they'll end up near the top.

He's a very good player, similar style to Fleck but not as good and ginger.

What the fuck are Brentford playing at?

Why the fuck do Stoke need another midfielder?

Rowett's showing himself up a bit here. Couple of bad results and throws money at a player with a good reputation regardless of the fact he plays in what's already their strongest position. He already has Allen and has signed Clucas and Etebo, FFS. Maybe he's the new Harry Redknapp?

It also makes a mockery of this new transfer window setup.

I said at the start of the season that I wasn't remotely convinced that Rowett would succeed with Stoke. He has a fantastic squad but his Derby team weren't bad and he turned them into a pimped up Bolton, trying to play decent stuff when it suits but then just clumping it around when things aren't going well. They never looked that fussed under him so I question whether he is an effective motivator, never mind a tactician.

I backed West Brom in my accumulator. A local hero in charge who the fans and players clearly love, and who knows what the team is about. Nothing fancy, but they will get results.

Watch Rowett go and smash the league now I have said that.

An ecellent player, but it only goes to shows how much value we got with the Norwood signing. Stoke didn't need him for the reasons Ricky mentions.Got to spend the parachute moneythough eh?

Looks like he might be moving on from Stoke. What sort of midfielder is he? Would he do a job in centre mid for us Ricky? I appreciate that isn’t a target position.

Think it maybe. As I can see Coutts moving on. He’s also handy at Right back

If we’re nicking the best players from the Champ, i’d look at Loader and Andy Rinomhota from Reading.

What a shock his move to Stoke was an absolute failure.

Neat and tidy, composed playmaker who will carry the ball forward and get things moving. Intelligent player.

He's very good at taking the ball off the defenders and keeping possession under pressure, so he'd play Norwood's role and do that part of the game better, but lacks the killer deliveries. I also think if we're to sign someone for that position, it will be someone physically better.

We must have improved beyond recognition or he has regressed, when he was at Brentford looked the next big thing , I would have broken the bank to get him. Watched the broadcast on follow and kept a close eye on woods, almost every pass was slightly behind its intended recipient , resulting in the play slowing down looks short on confidence, so it's a no from me

To be fair, if you look at that Stoke squad and how they have performed I wouldn’t say it was all down to his ability.

If we're going for a Stoke midfielder I'd sooner take that big black fella who played #8 against us, he was unplayable at times.

Peter Etebo. If he's affordable, and if we're willing to sign a foreigner, then I agree, definitely.

Not seen many stand out like he did against us.

Always liked the player and as long as the deal wouldn't be too expensive (I'm sure he'll be on a decent wedge at Stoke) I'd be keen for Utd to make a move - he could provide cover/competition in midfield, could prob cover RWB and certainly cover RB if CW changes to 4 at the back.

He would certainly be competition for Norwood very similar style as well, he could even push him out.
Stoke would want what they paid or close too it £6 million.
If we are intent on competing at this level we will have to pay such prices unless we look for players out of contract and they will require a wedge to get them on board.
Wilder is right to stick to the principles he has got ( value for money with players who really want to play for us ) but we won't get players on the cheap as previously, just my opinion of course.
In Wilder we trust.

I think Woods and Jota would be potentially excellent signings. Slightly damaged goods, but both very talented and could be worth double what we'll pay for them within a few months.

Agree - their stocks are currently low and would therefore be in less demand and obviously cheaper - just how CW likes his targets!

It's a 'not quite' from me.

He's a player I like and the right type to target but he'd be direct competition for Norwood, and for that area I think we have to be looking at someone physically good who can defend.

While I'd like to see him sign, it would certainly have to fit into the budget of player challenging for a start rather than an automatic choice. Norwood and Fleck have the shirts for me at the start of the season, but we certainly need a couple of options who are equally as talented.

Yep, we need two players there.

I trust Fleck more than Norwood so any spend for me should be more focused on Norwood's side. But a good free transfer such as Obi Mikel could free us up to spend more on competition for Fleck, which would be a challenge on a budget.

Don't you think Norwood is a good defender his inteception stats suggest he is.
Defending is not all about tackling and physicality we have a great defensive record this last season which is due to a number of factors
Norwood is part of that as is positional sense and football intelligence help him and us in that sphere.
Not saying he can't be improved of but stats over a season don't lie,Wilder is a great beleave in those.
