Am I the only one that's not that bothered?
Hes enjoying his time getting himself ready for manure first team. That's the top and bottom of it.

Whilst bringing in a new goalie wouldn't be ideal given weve a battle on our hands next year I dont think it's an unattainable ask for Wilder to already have this covered.
Whilst our defence are playing in a whole new park next year they're not about to become absolute shit. And their performance has certainly added to the top class season deano has had.
I wouldn't go any more than £5m.

Too right £5 million - £8 million
He's proved nothing as far as Man Utd are concerned and certainly won't feature for them next season if he stays
If De Gea leaves they'll spend a fortune replacing him, they certainly won't rely on an unproven player for the ambitions that they have

If rumours are true, he's in the next England squad. England international goalkeepers are worth millions

Deano's been great but hey.. if he doesn't want to come then he can f**k off :D
seriously, we are Sheffield United, we don't have to beg anybody

Why would man united do that when they can just loan him and keep him
Because if he then doesn’t reach potential they have received £7m for him. Man United want the absolute best and he may never reach their level. They may never want him back and he may never play for them.

It would only go through with a buy back inserted at that price and that wouldn’t be for £50m, it’d be for maybe £12m to cover any costs we’ve incurred up to the point of him being bought back, which I guess would have to be triggered at some point during his contract before it is null and void.

But I do agree with you, it’ll be a loan as I don’t think they are at the point of what shall we do with him until he’s completed a year in the Premier League.

I think his Man Utd contract is up next summer. If they are shuffling around the keepers, I don't think Henderson has a realistic shot of being the number 1. More likely they will sell De Gea for a hefty sum to Real, either take Courtois or pay big money for Oblak. Looks like Romeo is content being a number 2.

Henderson has some decisions to make, I'd guess they've been all but made already.

Ive said this multiple times on various threads related to Henderson. When he came to United to discuss everything with Wilder and Knill he said his plan was:
1) Save us 20 points this season and get us promoted
2a) Come back on loan to us in the Prem
2b) If we didnt get promoted to go on loan in the Prem
3) After a season in the Prem to go back to Man U extend his contract, be part of the first team squad and fight to become their No.1 and ultimately England's number 1.

The lad is driven and focused. Cannot see him deviating from his plan unless the chance arises to be a No.1 at a bigger club in the Prem, which is highly unlikely. Man U would only be looking to sell if they received a silly offer, which United wont be doing. Time will tell, but with DDG not signing a new contract he'd be daft to move permanently elsewhere when he could be in their first team squad for 2020/21

I'm ambivalent, to be honest. He has pulled off some world-class saves this season but also committed several howlers that cost us points: howlers that, if repeated in the Prem, could be the difference between safety and relegation. I get that he is on a learning curve but I do wonder whether his celebrations, badge-kissing, post-match tweets etc are clouding some people's judgement.

Even if he comes back on loan I'd be inclined to get another keeper with Prem experience in as cover.

Won't there be restrictions on incoming loans now we're in the Prem? For that reason alone we need to do whatever we can to get him signed permanently. Loans in other areas of the pitch could prove vital as outfield players tend to cost much more to sign permanently.

Except, he says he does want to come.
And why not ? He gets to play Premier League football as number one. Not number two or three at Man Utd, maybe even three or four after they buy somebody else.
If De Gea leaves they will spend big money on a more glamourous name

Honestly don't see an issue with signing a favourable to Man United contract for him if he continues to progress at the rate he has been.

Sign him for £7m with a buy back which gives us a slim profit if Man U want him back in 2 years, if they don't, nothing happens, if they do then so be it (although obviously that would all be forgotten by a lot of people and it'd be "typical yoonited selling England's number one for £12m").

Loans are going to be priceless commodities next season in the Prem with their rules so to be honest, if we can get a keeper permanently it'd be a lot better for us, and the keeper we want is Deano.

The issues i have with this 'slim profit buy back', is that if he has a worldy of a season, gets in the england side etc, they'll buy him back just to sell him on for his true value.

Can't be playing them games.

Not sure I quite get the clamour to spunk >£10million on him. He’s a decent young keeper and served us well but I wouldn’t want us to blow our budget on him.

So if we don't spunk the cash on him....someone who looks like he's certainly going to appreciate in value.... who are we going to play in goal?

Only way they’ll sell is with a buy back which might happen cause we can only have two loans

The other thing to consider if it's a loan deal is that means we're missing a key player for 2 huge games next season.

so why all the pointless speculation?

so why all the pointless speculation?

Because speculation happens
He's enjoyed his time here and if some Sheffield United fans can give their own club some credit now and again they'd maybe start to realise that Sheffield United in the Premier League is as good a choice for a Man Utd, Arsenal or Chelsea reserve as anybody else.

The Premier League and Championship are full of unproven young reserves from the top six, but as soon as Sheffield United are mentioned our own fans automatically belittle us and say "Never happen in a million years"

The same fans are criticising fans of other clubs for belittling us, yet the average Sheffield United fan never stops doing it.

We buy him for 7million

Man U buy him back in 3 seasons time for 70million.

I'm in.
Or buy someone else for 50 million or 100 million?

Cutting his ties to man u would be no good to Henderson in terms of perusing his personal ambitions.

He’s 22 and is probs next if de gea decides leave.

He’s good but he’s not that good come on.

He’s an excellent shot stopper but still has serious issues commanding his box.

He’d be a great signing for us but let’s not pretend he’s on De Gea’s level just yet. Players who are don't want to play for Sheffield United.

Except Bash obviously :)

Agreed but he’s rates as man u’s best youth keeper if de gea went this summer could see him and Romero sharing it

£10 million blowing our budget???????

You do know what Premier clubs receive don't you ?

Yep, and we also need to ensure that money supports the clubs for years to come. Can’t see us having a budget of much more than £20/25million and we probably need 4 or 5 players to compete.

I do like him, I just don’t rate him quite as highly as most fans do.
