They are for us
If some people are expecting Utd to lay out tens of millions in transfer fees, I'm afraid they're likely to be disappointed. Yes, I'm sure a lot more will be spent than in recent seasons but there is more chance of one of us playing than the club paying £25m for Maupay, £20m for McBurnie or £10m for Robinson. If that is what they'll cost, they won't be joining Utd.
Money doesn't equate to guaranteed success ,Fulham spent over 100 million. Palace and Burnley spent under 20 . Spending it wisely is the most important thing ,players to fit our system and mentality is worth a lot more.We will need to spend £50mil to survive.
Huddersfield spent that - they're sitting miserably at the bottom and are the 2nd/3rd worst team in Premier League history.
Cardiff also spent around that mark.
£50mil is very much the norm for promoted sides to spend.

No sane person is suggesting we spend 100mil but spending Huddersfield sums will be required to compete.
We need to spend if we're just shopping in England, it's the most expensive market and we're unfortunately searching for the most expensive attributes, pace and goals.
If you don't think we're looking at roughly £50mil you're mistaken.
Yep. If Huddersfield (2 years) can, if Cardiff can spend around 40 (then obviously the planned signing of Sala in January for 15 mil), and if Brighton can just shy of 60 - we can spend 50.£50m on signings?

We'll be coming back down then. It's a great squad, a great and talented bunch of lads and they'll entertain us all season and I think give some big teams a serious fright. But if we don't spend money we'll come back down. We're seriously lacking in numbers, goals and pace at the top end of the pitch.I agree that we can. We won't though.
Why do the 2 need to be separate? Why can't you plan accordingly and spend money? No we won’t, if we’ve not proven anything this season it should be that hard work, careful planning and meticulous attention to detail rather than simply spending money is the way to do it.
We won’t be spending daft money....if they wanted Maupay he would need to be in his last 12 months and confident we would have some resale in him. Likewise at signing.
I will expect our list of players to include those fitting that protocol, generally from the championship with a couple of loan players in there.
I will predict that we might sign our first overseas player though...perhaps on loan but suspect we will get one of two in who can fit in with what we already have here
That's a ridiculously simplistic way of looking at football ,honed on championship manager I suspect. Why do the 2 need to be separate? Why can't you plan accordingly and spend money?
And it's not 'daft' money anymore - especially considering you get £180mil just for being promoted.
I don't think some people have caught up with the real world of Premier League football.
If we want to stay up we'll need some QUALITY additions. Evolution not revolution indeed but even Championship players these days are worth £15mil upwards.
Look at JOC alone - we turned down £8mil wanting double [fact]. We turned down £5mil for Fleck wanting more - batting it straight out the park. We are looking at similar figures if we want to sign similar quality in those areas. That is a large expenditure before you've even looked at strikers.
The most expensive attribute is goals. Behind that is pace. We need both to handle the rigours of playing at the top level week in week out. And we only shop in England. THAT. COSTS. BIG.

Honed by the cold hard facts of Premier League football pal. We've performed miracles so far but this is a different entity entirely. That's a ridiculously simplistic way of looking at football ,honed on championship manager I suspect.
We did - we bought Egan and Norwood who improved us immensely.People said last season that if we didn't spend money we wouldn't be going up.
We did - we bought Egan and Norwood who improved us immensely.
And we tried to. We tried to buy him.You know what I mean. People were saying we needed to spend a lot more than we did.
People were claiming we should've been spending £5m+ on Martyn Waghorn, for example.
And we tried to. We tried to buy him.
Fortunately for us McGoldrick came along and the rest is history. But the players we had already were majority decent Championship players. We are now going into completely unchartered territory. Our attacking triangle are all the wrong side of 30 and have never played at this level before. That needs improvement.
We MUST spend. Wilder knows it. Knill knows it. The lads know it.
Will they be able to? I'd be extremely disheartened if not.
Probably an ok one if we went abroad, but with our current UK based policy it'd be mission impossible to stay up without spending £20mil+ with the skills we require in the team and depth in key areas of the squad.I'd be genuinely interested to see an example of an adequate squad we could put together without spending much.
Define 'loads' by Premier League standardsBut we didn't. We didn't spend the large sums of money that some were claiming that we'd need to spend in order to get out of the Championship.
Wilder knows it? Well his interviews suggest that he isn't going to be spending loads so maybe he doesn't. I guarantee we won't be spending £50m in transfer fees.
What is Robinsons ideal position? Thought he looked more of a winger against us.
It's as if people haven't been paying attention to Wilder's transfer strategy over the last 3 years.
We will need to spend £50mil to survive.
I agree that we can. We won't though.
We did though really didn't we ? The team that finished tenth the season before wouldn't have finished any higher than tenth last seasonBut we didn't. We didn't spend the large sums of money that some were claiming that we'd need to spend in order to get out of the Championship.

He's a modern forward: primarily plays down the centre but comfortable out wide too.
Think a poor man's Rashford.
I get what you're saying but the £3.5m signing of Egan would be smaller outlay than say £10m on Robinson, relative to the calibre of player and United's improved income.
Not saying well definetly spend £10m on a player, just saying it's not a ridiculous fee, especially when you consider what we paid for Egan.
I don't think we need to spend £50m to survive.
We will have to recruit a handful of players though, and that will likely cost tens of millions if they're of the requisite quality to play in the PL.
If you had to guess; what do you reckon we'll spend?
We did though really didn't we ? The team that finished tenth the season before wouldn't have finished any higher than tenth last season
We brought in Henderson Norwood mcgoldrick and Egan awith the sell on money from maguire and walker sales as well as woodbourn
In January we used what was left from.the Brooks cash to fund the loan signings of madine ,Hogan and Dowell
8 players added to the first team.squad, wage bill doubled and debts paid ,no one was screaming we spend mega millions on asombolonga type signings but if we only spend 30 million next season that will only bring two maybe three good championship players as we don't have the scouting network to find bargains abroad
