I suppose it has been touched upon on other threads but what happens next?
Johnson - never got close and when he did he was an obvious weak link. Clearly won't take him back.
Henderson - pretty obvious all parties are Keen to make this happen. He won't play vs Man U, I assume. Are we fine with Simon Moore stepping in or do we want better depth?
Dowell - leaves with a great anthem to his name but I can't say we really saw the best of him. I'd like to think in that role you night get someone who imposes themselves more on the game. I don't think I would extend this one.
Hogan - scored a couple of important goals. My main concern would be his injury record and how much Villa would still want for him. I'm not convinced you'd get a good return on your money.
Madine - difficult one I'd say. He'd be useful to Cardiff coming down. I can see Wilder quite liking to have his disruptive ability in the squad and has clearly enjoyed his time. I just wonder if you are serious about tackling the PL, whether signing a guy who a team likely to be relegated deemed not good enough for their squad is the way to go. Similar to Hogan, how much would Cardiff want? He's not done enough since signing for Cardiff to retain the 6m value. 3m would be ok. 4m feels a bit pricey already.
In summary:
Release - Johnson, Hogan, Dowell
Retain - Henderson
Think long and hard and see how the window pans out - Madine
