McCabe wants to sell Blades

Hasn't McCabe been trying to sell the club for the last 10 years? Unless he's managed to sign a deal with HRH that means he'll lose it for very little (~GBP 5 mln), he hasn't wasted any time in putting the For Sale signs out following the promotion has he?

Well realistically (pessimiistically ?)there'll never be a better time ; particularly given "he's been trying to sell the club for the last 7 years" (most of the time when we were a basket case both on & off the field)

Wonder if HRH is regretting not stumping up the 20/30 million Uncle Kev was (initially) after ?

Virtually none. But the suggestion that they would somehow interfere less with Wilder, or that it would be “better for Wilder” if anyone other PA is in control, doesn’t feel as though it’s based on anything other than blind optimism.
No, you're right - so many wealthy businessmen sack their most successful member of staff as soon as they take over a new company, especially when it's doing well.

Fuck me win promotion Sunday 2 days later I want to sell !
:shark:

Two things here.

1. He's obviously confident of winning the case
2. He's already got an international buyer lined up (maybe that billionaire Chinese dude)
Go on then, which incredibly rich potential owner WOULD you (or we for that matter) have an idea about?
Chansiri is interested apparently

Chansiri is interested apparently he bought the wrong club

There have been a couple of rumours, mainly coming from the time that Kevin McCabe took George Osborne to China for some business meetings and one of the people they met ran a giant construction company (which Kev Mc is knowledgeable about, of course) and the other is a bloke already in Sheffield, nice bloke by all accounts, family man.

Have I said that?

Imagine this scenario for a minute. New owner comes in. We’re barely above the relegation zone at Christmas. Do you think the new owner:
  • Sticks with Wilder based on his past achievements in the league’s below and because he’s really popular with the fans?
  • Gets someone else in that they think has a better chance of keeping us up?
With McCabe in sole control I’d say the latter is almost impossible. With Prince Abdullah I think it would be unlikely, because he at the very least will remember the past 5 years – where we were before Wilder, the remarkable job he’s done against the odds, and will probably have faith that he can beat the odds again. With a completely new person I think the latter option would be highly likely to happen.

Chinese investment would be interesting since the chinese government put a 150 % tax on all money being taken out of the country to be used in sporting ventures a couple of years ago

Unpopular. Also unsupported by fact, unsupported by even rumour, conjecture, financial information or previous avowed intent. Man wants a quick buck. Wasn't as quick as he expected following the Adkins/Clough debacle. Decided Van Winkle was the way but fortunately Wilder got there first. Prince hasn't got the cash. What is it about people who see Saudi and Prince and think they are all billionaires?
Ask Kevin McCabe.

I understand one of the stipulations McCabe tried to insist on with previous prospective buyers is that Scott would remain involved in the running of the club - happy to be set straight if not true.

I wonder if a similar arrangement may potentially suit all parties if a new buyer appeared, which may go someway to negating the issue you raise.

That may help, but it sounds like his role would be advisory at best. There’s no way McCabe can sell up and retain some sort of oversight role. The lack of that is the reality of him selling up.

There were newspaper reports a year ago McCabe had found fresh investment and Wilder had met them.
This ties in with the time you mention.

Not before a court battle to keep the club!! Think about it.

So why the interview at all then? Why state that he wants to sell up before a court battle to keep the club? I’m not sure you’ve thought about it either.

Nothing in the interview suggests he’s got a buyer lined up, as you suggest.

Unpopular opinion I know but I actually think that the Prince would invest very heavily if he wins sole control. But I don't mind either way now that McCabe has confirmed he will try to sell the club on before next season if he wins the legal dispute.
With what?
