Given the number of ST's sold so far are those of us who live too far away to make the purchase of a season ticket viable going to be screwed to even get a home ticket? Also looking at the away allocations in the prem it looks like it will be virtually impossible for those of us on the lower end of the points system to get a ticket for one of those games.

Looks that way. Can't say I'm surprised, I expected it to be like this if we did go up. I reckon there will be about 4,000 general sale tickets for each home match. Away allocations will never get to general sale and most will go in the first wave of sales given the number of season tickets.

That's why I have bought season tickets; it's a long commute from Belgium but I dont want to miss out, particularly the London games. It's expensive...but when do we live if not now?

Yeah, I saw that. I suppose there will be more on sale during the close season?
There will also be plenty of regulars who either cant justify or afford a season ticket who will struggle to get tickets for some games. It's difficult to see what the solution is.

Can a season ticket be shared amongst several fans? I have had season tickets in the past and travelled up from Wiltshire for home games, however we are moving even further away from Sheffield so if I bought one it would get wasted for several games a season.

But... give it five years and things could be very different and the club could find itself back in League One. Then you'd not even be needing half of that capacity for 90% of games...

I believed that would be a target we could build up to in the premiership. I actually now think we could of filled that most games next season.

For a season or two perhaps, but if we stayed up and were usually around halfway or just below, we might find a few empty seats at 40k.

Sad to say that i think the only way really is to get yourself or a group of you to get a season ticket and either share it or just accept that its am expensive membership.

I was working away more when we were last in the Premier League so i'd given up my season ticket a couple of seasons before, but i never struggled to get a ticket for games. I tended to just buy anywhere on the kop and then my mates would message me to tell me if there was a free seat near them. I didn't really enjoy the games though as i prefer Saturday 1500 or Tuesday 1945 and i don't think we had that many at those times.

I bought my season ticket when we were back in the Championship after the Premier League and had it ever since, I go to as many away games as home now. Its funny that this season i've had no end of takers to borrow mine.

I know it was looked into before when we were up, but its worth getting a group of you together and approaching the club about having a group of season tickets which you can share around you.

Why do you need to tell the club? As long as you’re all the same ticket type (e.g. adult) you can share a season ticket without asking. No one would know anyway surely?

I would guess there is a no-resale clause otherwise it would hit the club financially. I’m going to contact the club fo see if I can give back the seats for the home games I can’t get to; I wouldn’t want them to go unused if BDTBL is sold out. I’m not bothered about the money but supporters that have been there through thin and thinner shouldn’t be crowded out.

This is a tricky one, my mate is an Arsenal season ticket holder but hasn't been for 8 years, he just keeps renewing just so he has it whilst he has a few years off with his young family. The waiting list is years long and he tells me a lot of people do this and whilst some just 'lend' their tickets out, some don't. As ever, this is only a problem for us when demand outstrips the numbers but it's the same as loyalty points in a way, it becomes harder and harder for people to get on the ladder if the same people keep their place in the ST market and the same people have priority.

As far as I'm aware, if you have a Bayern München season ticket and don't use it, it is taken off you. But there doesn't seem to be any rule (or at least any check) of people lending them out.

Yeah, I guess they could check the actual seats but at the end of the day, the money has been paid so why would they be that bothered. I'm sure most ST holders have lent their ticket out at some point and I suspect a fair chunk of people have got a ticket for someone else using their points, can't stop it and of course it helps people out sometimes.

I live in South Wales and I've got myself a season ticket for next season, my first since 2010 having moved away from the north. I've agreed to share it with a pal of mine who lives up north but who also can't make every game. I won't be able to make every game myself but I'd rather the seat is used when I'm not there and I can get some of the money back. I didn't want to risk not being able to see some of the big games at the Lane, and a season ticket is the best way of guaranteeing that.

Yeah, as long as the ticket is used by someone. Whereas boosting your own loyalty points outside of STs and not going, that's another ball game

I don't think there'll be a problem getting home tickets for most games. At the very least, get a membership card which will give you a chance to buy tickets before they go on general sale.

i got my ST when we were relegated to L1 even though i was working abroad with this very scenario in mind

What ought to be looked at, if home tickets are going to be so limited, is a buy-back scheme from the club - if you aren't using your season ticket for a particular match, you can sell the ticket back to the club so they can release the ticket for general sale.

Seem to remember hearing Everton have a scheme where ST holders can sell their seat for individual matches to others, might be this stubhub thing below, we should do the same.
I bought an ST for 19/20 living down here as I remember how tricky it was for others to get decent tickets in 06/07 when I also had one and expect matches day prices to be higher meaning a break even point of about 10 matches attended so a no brainer and worth the risk for me. I just give it to others if I can't make it.

There were 4 or 5 empty seats behind me on the Kop middle on Saturday whatever happened there. And the fellow in front didn't come back to his seat in the second half and that was also empty. All other areas of the ground looked packed out bar BLLT. Didn't we get a 30,000 attendance against Bristol City too? There were definitely more Blades on Saturday than for that one though. I'll just have to go the membership route I think. As a lot of the matches won't be on Saturday 3pm.

Trust you know efinglongway who I believe was a ST holder in SW Wales this season and I would expect next. Think you'll find there are other exiled ST holders not far off your match day route, one I know near Evesham for example.
