Thats from the 0-1 defeat on 21/10/72. Note that Badger is wearing the no.8 shirt. That is because he was injured at the start of that season and Steve Goulding came in as right back. Harris must have been impressed by Goulding as, when Badger was fit, he kept Goulding at RB and slotted Badger in in midfield.

Its 1995. The 0-0 draw on 25/11/95.

Carl Veart hit the post from outside the box if I recall correctly.

Seems a lot longer ago than 1995 :D

Ah Len Badger.....the TC of the back four!

:)

A pretty rare occassion i am sure, but why isnt the picture facing the south stand, rather than the side of the lane where there isnt a stand :D

For some reason, all the ones of the penalties were taken facing the "building" site :)

To be honest, my main concern these days is just why I had a photo taken sat on Nathan Blake's knee? wrong on so many levels :)

There's a pic of me as a baby on Tony Agana's shoulder, and another one of me with Tony Currie at one of his summer football schools. I'll upload them as soon as I go through the attic...

I've enjoyed looking through the old pictures :) Keep them coming!

I was on the kop that day, there were a couple of drunk everton fans in front of me, when they scored the daft pillocks jumped up to celebrate, the 'Silly-Born-Twats' got a right hammering, it made me feel physicaly sick seeing all the fists and feet going in..

If I remember rightly, Goulding hit the bar in that game and Ian Holmes had a goal disallowed for offside. Neither managed to ever score a real goal for United.

My first match was v Sunderland in 1971 but this match v Arsenal in 1973 is the first match I can recall with any clarity. Tony Currie taking the piss out of Alan Ball is more memorable than the scoreline for me.

Yes, that is right. Ian Holmes had thought he scored for us in the 1st minute. The linesman had his flag up and then put it down and Holmes raced away to place the ball under Everton's keeper David Lawson at the Kop end. Everton players appealed that the linesman had briefly put his flag up so the ref came over to discuss with the linesman on why he had put his flag up. The ref then decided to disallow the goal for offside. Steve Goulding's effort that hit the bar at the BL end in the 2nd half caused Blades fans to debate whether the ball had crossed the line after it had hit the bar. On the following Monday there was a feature on Calendar tv programme about Blades fans from Scandivanian countries making the trip to the match

Jim Montgomery of Sunderland made several brilliant saves in the 1971 match that was played under heavy rain. One of the finest goalkeeping displays I have ever seen at the Lane. It was rare to see Ted Hemsley making a decisive header and running into the box and it was enough for it to go past Montgomery for the only goal of the game. Not long after the goal, Sunderland hit back with a fine angled shot by Gordon Harris but John Hope brilliantly dived full length to push the ball past the post

A classic goal from 'The Premiership Years'. Whatever happened to the self professed superstar by the way

Since leaving us he has made 16 appearances for Turkey, several being in the Euro 2008 tournament. I would say that isn't doing too badly for yourself.

I always thought that was a great finish from The Coca Cola Kid, as it on the John Street it looked like a precise finish from an acute angle. However that pic above makes it look like I could have put that away! Tap-In!

Where is this?

It ain't Beighton. There's street lighting and paved roads in the picture.:)
