I have never thought that Sam Ellis does anything other than stand in for Blackwell when he bottles an interview
Waste of space in my opinion.

How the hell you two can judge what Ellis and Speed do for this team through interviews is quite amusing.

No one can say how good a coach is at training players from 1 performance on a Saturday afternoon.

It just doesn't work that way.

Exactly. How on earth does anyone really understand who does what? Sam Ellis isn't eye or ear pleasing, unlike darling Speed. Other than that, nobody understands what goes on behind the scenes (lays the ground for several "ITK" posts, lost the dressing room etc etc.).

If you have a gripe state it. If something's good, state it. This constant dummy spitting about anything that's associated with SUFC is boring and detracts from your main point, whatever that is.

On a similar theme to the previous post, how do you know this? Speed has been in football for 20 years. Ellis has been in the game over 40.

Speed has played over 650 league games. So what? Stuart McCall played nearly 800 and he's not pulling up any trees at Bradford. Peter Shilton played over a thousand, and he was a lousy manager.

This is a rather roundabout way of saying that I don't understand why some people are so sure that Speed would be a good boss when Blackwell goes. How do we know he's going to be good at a job he has never done?

In interviews he is eloquent, appears very knowledgable and understanding of the game.
Ellis has not had the evryday contact with these type of people and has played or managed at a lower level. His interviews are usually the same message as Blackwell ie Lads tried hard, played well, unlucky, ball not running, debatable decisions etc etc.
I have not heard anything from Ellis that breeds any confidence that he is an excellent man manager, master tactician or motivator.
Given the resources that McCall has at his disposal at Bradford he isn't doing too bad a job and Peter Shilton has flaws in his character (Gambling, Private Life etc) that probably precludes him from managing people and situations!
There is logic to my arguements and critisisms!

For those of tender years let me say that Ellis, when a player, was the biggest clogger at centre half this country has ever seen.
Since that was his preferred method of playing I can only assume that he believed it effective.
I don't know whether Blackwell gives him anything important to do but our style of play is uncomfortable close to what I saw Ellis do all those years ago.

For Barnes read Shilton same character flaws - you can't just transpose names of good players who have made bad managers Here are some others that would not make good managers Stan Bowles, Alan Hudson, Tony Currie, Gazza, etc
To be a good manager in football does not follow a pattern
For what its worth the following are /were excellent managers in my view Clough Snr, Ferguson Snr, Venables, Sir Bobby Robson, Shankley, Paisley, Mourinho, Wenger, George Graham (Arsenal days), Dario Gradi, all differnet characters, different styles but understood the game and how it should be played with the resources available at the time!

I think that's a bit harsh. He's done pretty well for Birmingham, Wigan and Sunderland. Let's not forget when he took over here it was his first management job. No matter how experienced you are playing the game, there's always a big chance that management won't come so easily. There's still a lot to learn.

Speed for me, has all the characteristics of a good manager. Whether he becomes a good manager, time can only tell. I personally wouldn't mind seeing him given a chance here. It might not work that well, but it might work bloody wonders too.

What information have you had from within the club that has informed you how the players 'feel' towards Blackwell ? Any exact quotes or just assuming based on the gossips on forums ?
