The crowd

Ahhh, that old chestnut. The fans fault.
Much easier to criticise ordinary people who's nerves have been shredded by a team who are not willing to work hard enough to finish teams off.

If we'd kept the pressure on Millwall after we scored the fans might have been able to support the players instead of biting their fingernails through the final 40 minutes of the game.

We should have known, after all this is Sheffield United. Spineless wankers

You're just not making any sense

Oh I am, fanny. Here’s the thing. The Blades crowd doesn’t come up to your expectations of what it should be. So what? It is what it is, that’s football. Either fuck off & support a team with enough pyros to keep you moist or, at least, stop whining and bleating on here about it and boring the rest of us to death.

If you criticise the atmosphere = it’s saying it’s the fans fault :D

I rarely agree with you, but spot on apart from the unnecessary final paragraph.

And to be fair they don’t sound too cracking at Elland Road, who could go 4 points clear so.... it is what it is, sometimes it’s electric sometimes it’s not - in a nutshell
Leeds can't go 4 points clear

It's nerves CB.
Fans aren't paid a fortune to deal with pressure, the players are.
Our players have shown with their performances for several weeks that they can't. They've tried to do the worst thing that any Sheffield United team could......play for 1-0 wins.
They've got away with it a couple of times, but Birmingham and Millwall have finally finished us

But why have the players got to do something BEFORE the crowd rouse themselves?
Surely if you pay to go to a game to watch your chosen team, it shouldn't be such a strain to shout encouragement?
Never seems to be a problem away - GCB, kick-off, straight into 10 - 15 mins of singing and afterwards a cheer for everything that moves.

The crowd react when the players initiate it the players were nervous so that made the crowd nervous Liverpool fans have been shocking a few times until the team revved it up.

I didn’t even think it was a bad atmosphere today considering the pressure, fair enough the chants never went on that long like sometimes but after we scored and when millwall got that attacking spurt we stayed behind them. Or maybe I was stood with the few people that make a noise so it sounded better than it was ;)

crowd, bollox, the team invited Millwall onto us, it was only a matter of time before they scored and they could have won it.Ever heard the crowd at the Etihad, its like a church sometimes, doesn`t affect City.

It's always what happens on the pitch that creates the atmosphere, at every stadium in the country.

The atmosphere always starts off good, but players tossing it off and being too frightened and spineless to attack won't be supported in any stadium.

Exactly, and apart from the anthem at the beginning of the match most of Barcelona's games are played in a subdued atmosphere with 90,000 there, it doesn't affect them. The players understand their responsibilities, they understand that they have to play a certain way and get on with the job.
They don't suddenly go all defensive trying to steal 1-0 wins because the title is at stake and they haven't got the bottle to finish the job

Other clubs are shit so it’s fine lads.

don't know why you are blaming crowd for team was scared to play at our best, overlapping etc. no one wanted to do it

My dad is long dead fanny, and I don’t have any sisters. No, just sick of tossers like you trying to dictate how Blades have to behave, according to your doctrine. You are a bore.

The Blades didn't play very well to be fair. In the first half the tv commentator said the crowd is quiet and you can feel the nervousness.

Is this the new trend? Refusing to see that it was entirely the team and manager's fault for today and instead direct the blame to the fans? Jesus wept get a grip.

Appalling today
How you expect players perform in front of a nervous edgy shit scared stadium like that I'll never know
I've been very vociferous in defending the support in the past but today it cost us the game
That ref was giving them sift decisions all game that doesn't happen in front of a hostile crowd
Oh fuck off.
