Nothing particularly against this guy, but jeez where did they find him? Each time he interviews Wilder I'm cringing from his questions...

Feels like "his first job", such is the naviety of the questioning.
 



Wilder clearly doesn't like/respect the bloke

Wasn't happy at the penalty question and rightly so!
 
Wilders always chippy with him and it often comes across petty.

The penalty question was relevant and interesting, didn’t deserve the response it got from Wilder.

I thought that was a rare bit of good natured joking between the two of them, as evidenced by McCarthy laughing in the background and the tone of Wilder’s response. It was quite different to their exchanges from a few months back where Wilder has been a bit ratty.
 
I'm disappointed every time this guy opens his gob. I sometimes don't even listen to the interviews when he does it, just read up on here about what was said.
 
On a plus side he has Brian the Blade's number:
Caller, 'that Brian Blade talks some rubbish sometimes.'
McCarthy, 'only some of the time?'
It was an open goal but somebody has to score them.
 
It always used to be the idea that you asked open questions (ones that require more than a yes or no answer) so that the person you were talking to had something to go off and could share their views.

Then this weird thing happened, and I blame it on one person mostly because I dislike him, where Garth Crooks used to say something daft that didn't end in a question mark and then hold the mic out expecting an answer. For some reason I can't figure out, all the other reports saw this as a good idea and now I can't help but listen to player and manager interviews and count how few of the interviewers comments actually turn into a question.

He's work experience pal, that or agency staff?
 
It’s pretty normal that anyone new is criticised.
If he was safe and a bit boring, then people say he’s boring.
If he’s confident, interesting and bit controversial, then people says he’s arrogant and obnoxious.

The guy will know that being in the public eye he can’t please everyone and
as he’s new on the scene he’ll be negatively criticised whatever the does.

Made me laugh about Garth Crookes, he’s seems so bad it’s almost funny, just can’t get used to his ultra serious style.

A big miss? Gary Madine? I think the old paradigm must be respected and augmented.
 
So Chris, tough game tonight against a Birmingham side on the day that scientists are to reveal additional information about black holes in space. Do you believe this will have any significance on the game and could it spell the end of Carla from Coronations streets freedom in the Duffy role?

Dunno but I reckon you’d find a lot of freedom in Carla’s hole.
 
Can't remember which interview it was but i remember Mike asking Wilder about his thoughts on the summer signings he made before/after a game in and around October/November. Wilder was just as confused as me
 
I know we all love Wilder but he can be as grumpy as the next bloke. Don't blame him, he must have one of the highest-pressure jobs in the country at the moment and doesn't want to be distracted by pointless questions. If we get promoted, one of the things I really want to see is Chris's celebrations. Falling onto the floor of a bus while clutching a trophy and a bottle of Perroni will probably be tame in comparison.
 
Is it possible to have a bet on conceding a penalty?

He was largely laughing and smiling after as he said it, he wasn't petty with Mike I didn't think but in the past, Wilder has certainly taken a dislike to some of his questions.

I think that CW is someone who is sensitive, with his heart open, ready and willing to feel the joys of the world and be childish, while in tune with his inspiration, with sport, with music, and all those things that give him enough room to love and to breathe.

However, I feel that creativity doesn't come easily for him as we might anticipate, especially with so much inspiration and emotion floating around in the BDTBL air. I think that he has a hard time expressing his authentic personality especially in the media, sometimes even finding himself pressured by the rules and norms of the world of professional football. I suspect that he thinks circumstances and situations shape him, instead of showing him the right path to follow. His faith could get lost and he could give up on himself and resort to following simple karmic tasks and the previously trodden roads of his predecessors.

When pushed into a corner, there's a risk that he could give up on all his dreams if they aren’t completely honest, dignified, and in touch with his true responsibility towards himself. Then again, I might be totally wrong.
