Been forced to use ched evans more than he wanted, hoped to break him in like jamie ward
Evans 3m
ward 330k
something doesn't add up. Not having a pop at evans just blackwell bullshit

How is it bullshit? He wanted to bring him into the team slowly like he did with Jamie Ward but he hasn't been able to because of the injury to Jamie Ward. I think that is a correct statement as to the current situation.

Also Evans has only cost £1.5m so far.

I seem to remember every one saying Ward's shit, what have we bought him for. We gave him time and now he's one of the biggest miss's we've got at the minute. Him & Monty.

So, Give Ched Time!

Ched Evans has had nearly two seasons of football being out on loan
Think he scored against us for Norwich two seasons ago!
Why does he need time
He has dropped down from the Premier League, a Welsh full and u/21 international - totally different to Wardy who was plying his trade for Chesterfield in Div Four when we bought him.
Whatever the price Evans has been a disappointment but I don't see why we have to wrap him in cotton wool - don't forget that when the international break comes he'll be jetting off to play for Wales or U/21 somewhere in the world

I don't recall anyone ever saying this.

A large number of people said he was a panic buy from the 4th division and wasn't good enough.

That was probably before they saw him play!
When he did turn out I thought he was the mascot at first!
Developing into a useful player - not seen the same signs from Evans to date!

A large number of people said he was a panic buy from the 4th division and wasn't good enough.

I don't recall this at all. There seems to be a perhaps deliberate attempt to confuse anger at the sale of Beattie with anger at the signing of Ward - of which I remember absolutely none.
Everyone I recall thinking that £300K for a young player with promise was a sensible move - and the kind of move United should make more often.

I'm sorry but since when do Sheffield United ease £3m players into the first team?
It's an incredible statement to make.

This is one of the biggest frustrations at the moment. Just because he cost 1.5-3 million doesnt mean he'll be an instant hit. He's still young.

Let the lad develop, its not his fault he cost millions.

If you don't like Blackwell, fine. But give him a break.

Why should it be different for a 300k player or a (Potentially) 3 million player?

If its for the benefit of the team then surely thats a good thing isn't it???

It's just a total disgrace.

One day we hear we have no money, times are hard.

Now we hear that we can pick and choose when our big money striker plays, as if we are a top 6 Prem Club rotating an embarrassment of riches.

It's beyond belief what is happening, and even more disturbuing that many Blades seem to accept and agree with it.

Hmmmm

It came hot on the heels of the Lita rejection, so it could certainly have been seen that way (that it was a panic buy)

I think the majority of fans were more than willing to let him have a crack at the whip.

Fer crying out loud, we have enough money lying around to buy £3m players who we plan to ease into the first team?
At least we're getting black comedy from the Lane these days.

It has already been said but why should the price tag (half of what you have quoted) be relevant to how we bring a player into the side?

I really find this hard to take Swiss. Do you genuinely mean what you say or is it just a natural default position from you?

Of course it isn't Evans's fault but why was he signed then? Why give Blackwell a break for spending big money on a player who he now says is not good enough to start every week.

I don't expect himt o be scoring every game but surely he has to offer more thna he has done so far. either that or KB deserves stick for signing him? Very hard to say divert blame away from Evans and KB in the same arguments isn't it?

What I can't understand is why he is now saying this?

He said it straight away when he bought Ward. So why does he choose to wait till a third of the way through the season to mention it about Evans....

It seems bizarre to spend most of your transfer budget on a player you want to ease in the squad.

Come on Robbie, why do you think he's saying it?

If you can't see the issue Mousey, I can't really help you.
And the price tag is £3m as per the chairman's recent confirmation.

The other thing that comes to mind is that how can Blackwell want to ease him into the side when he has sold or loaned out all the other alternatives -its now Henderson, Ward and Evans

So that roughly translates as, I cannot give you an answer so I will try to appear above you while skirting around the question as smoothly as I can possibly achieve?

Blackie says that 'due to the circumstances' he had to play Evans?

What circumstances is he talking about? Injuries?

If i remember rightly he didnt play Sharp in any of the opening games, he played Ward on the wing and Hendo up front.

If it was that much of an issue for Evans to be eased into the starting II then why didnt he play Hendo and Ward up front and either Cotts or Reid on the wing. Or even play Sharp!

He had options and chose not to use them. It obviously wasnt that much of an issue at the time and does come across as another excuse.

In fairness, he is probbably trying to protect Evans who has come in for some criticism. I can't fault him but everything he says is naturally going to be closely scrutinised because of the position we find ourselves in.

The answer has been given numerous times but for the nth time Sheffield United are not in a position to buy £3m development players.
If you can't grasp that reality, I really can't help you further.

We had too few strikers at the start of the season. Whoever was struggling we should have had more back up.

I think it's going to be difficult for Blackwell to compose a team that make efficient use of the Henderson/Evans partnership.

So a price tag determins above every other factor how a player is merged into the team?

Mr McCabe says that Evans has cost £3million pounds - it doesn't matter that Bennett, Giddings, and Walker state that he has only cost £750k they are not running the football club.
If Mr McCabe says its £3million it's £3millions and I support lens views that we are not or ever have been in a position to speculate that amount of money on a development player!

FFS, a £3m player for any Championship club should be one that walks straight into the team.

Ok so if he was lacking match fitness, was shy and hadn't really got to know anybody yet, wasn't sure on the tactics at a new club you will still make him walk straight into the side purely on the fact he cost more money than someone else?
