a few decent comments, but also a great deal of bolarks…….

If they look good for us, but shit for Ireland, that’s probably says more about the manager than the player.
We have a young progressive manager, who gets the best from every player using inventive and attack minded tactics
You have Mick McCarthy
Problem solved.

I also think we would batter Ireland, very average team that can only beat the might of Gibraltar 0-1

McGoldrick was probably up with their best today, can't see any reason to complain since he set their goal up, won headers and had a couple of the better chances. I can see where they're coming from with the not a striker comments, because I agree, he's more of a 10, and needs a proper striker alongside like he has with Bill (I don't see Maguire as that but don't know who else they have) but compared to the shite that played up front in the last few for Ireland, he's miles ahead.

I think these fans have forgotten the swill O'Neill was serving in his last few games in charge, a decent improvement for me having watched their last few, I think it'll be clearer on a proper pitch that's not open on all sides with a gale force 10 wind and some Gibraltarian semi-pros nibbling at your ankles.

Cheers Roy

I hope they are both dropped for the next game and released from the squad early so they can get some rest ahead of the Bristol game.

I watched the second half and thought McGoldrick did ok but would agree with some of the comments about Enda, I thought he looked off his game certainly not the quality player we have seen this season

Both of them did alright, McGoldrick was probably one of Ireland's better players today. I was at the match and the Irish fans around me seem to have a dislike towards Enda, no idea why.

After the match I asked a few Irish journalists who they picked out as their stand out players, all thought Hourihane was up there and Maguire (who I thought offered little). I actually tried to change one journos marks for Enda in his paper (he gave him a 5!).

I also got to ask Mick McCarthy a question in the post match press conference, I chose to talk about McGoldrick, you can hear how Mick responded to me here (I held my own):

I've seen Maguire a few times for Preston lately, he's decent, good shot on him, few tricks and quite clever, but I wouldn't have called him as part of a front two with a McG type. I agree that he was offering little today, Enda was also quiet but he was also playing in a 4 so that's not the position he's used to, it reminded me a bit of when JOC was out and he was in our 3, he got forward less then too.

Overall though I think there were signs of improvement in style, they've been quite painful to watch in their last few but I enjoyed today's game.

Game was muck , very few positives from any Irish players ,wind didn’t help along with plastic pitch
May be trying to steady the ship after the last two ( bully’s ) well mostly Keane where in charge
The place is Endas to lose , there’s nothing coming through in that position
Apart from a couple of decent touches by McGoldrick, thought he was off the boil ,
Ireland will be looking to pick up 6 points from their opening games , with
Georgia next up on Tuesday
I don’t think things are going to get much better to be honest for Ireland as they just don’t have the bodies
They tried getting Grealish and Rice to declare for them , Rice did play underage for Ireland though
BTW , that’s not the first time I’ve seen 2 of our players , playing for Ireland

Enda did ok amongst a some fairly poor performances from quite a few of ROI's players. Don't know what some supporters expect, he does fine for us against better quality sides. Didn't expect attacking wing back's today, of course he didn't bomb forward he was following managers instructions. Mcgoldrick did fairly well, put himself about a fair bit & won a few headers in build up play.
Thought Maguire was crap to be honest.

Just shows Wilder is a millions miles better manager than big thick Mick.

I only watched the game to see if any of our boys were playing and I thought the pitch and strong wind spoiled the match completely.
It would be unfair to judge anyone from that showing but I thought Ireland should have shown a lot more quality than they did. I don’t think anyone made a decent pass all match and the ball control was awful. Let’s see them on a grass pitch.

I think this was the same pitch where Celtic struggled against Red Imps. What I find difficult to understand is that you can’t have an artificial pitch in L2 or above but it’s accepted for European Cup games and Internationals.

Has anybody ever seen a decent Ireland game?

I've watched a lot and I'm still waiting.

I think it took them 22 minutes to put a cross in yesterday.

Players like McGoldrick who can play football a bit need to be regulars. Maybe then as a team they can raise their 2 pass maximum to 3 or 4.

Ireland,Wales,Scotland are championship level outfits

Ireland would be one of the worst footballing sides in the Championship.

If they were league teams Scotland are midtable league one, Northern Ireland are play off contenders in league one, Republic of Ireland are trying not to get relegated from the Championship and Wales are challenging for promotion to the Premier League but their defence is holding them in the playoffs.

I doubt a side with the likes of Bale, Ramsey, Ben Davies, Allen, plus Brooks and their other promising youngsters would struggle to be promoted from the Championship in fairness.

They're like West Brom, good individuals but less than the sum of their parts. They were fortunate yesterday, Brooks passed it straight to a defender but that Swansea player stole it and scored.

Gareth Bale took the worst freekick I'd ever seen at the end of the game too haha...

They're not an elite team yet but should be soon.
