Lost four games on trot, local derby, live on TV (ITV digital I believe) bad run broken by a tremendous win.

Let's pray for same next week at Barnsley. Can't see it me sen but what a great evening that was at Millmoor. One of best and most vociferous followings I have been involved in.

The proud and very loud rendition of 'We aint got Woodward or Currie' will live forever in my memory.

Wish we had Kabba and Browny at their best with us on Monday. In fact I'd take em both now. Loved Kabba me.

Was that the very soggy Friday night, Browny pen if memory serves and an anxious last 10 when they got one back ?

I wasn't there but watched it on tv. One of those nights where it made you proud to be a blade. If we keep Blackwell in charge we might play Rotherham twice next year!!

And what about the 2 wins at Barnsley in 89/90? Magic, magic memories.

Wasn't a Thursday night in August... or was that a different season?

Away end packed wi' Blades willing a winner, when John Francis got pulled down in the box by David Currie.Jocky Bryson kept his nerve, and sent Baker the wrong way - all in the last minute too!

Then the cup...Tony Agana and another pen,but how many of went to all the games, including the one that got called off? I did,and the postponement happened just as I got there,so ended up getting mullered on the train on the way home after me and some mates went through about 20 cans of lager we bought from an offy, then ended up getting a lock in our local...Happy days....

Win or lose,we were still on the booze! :D

I was there, things I remember:

- nuclear pies
- taking the piss out of the orange faced ITV commentators
- massive puddle on leaving the ground

I remember having the rare pleasure of standing throughout an away game. I know people pay for seats and I understand why it could upset people but I love seeing away followings that stand up for the duration.

Remember it well; my mates company sponsored the game so we were sat in the 'executive area' of the main stand, alongside corporate hospitality in a portakabin round the back.

If I remember the food choice was scampi and chips, or shepherds pie with chips...

There's two games getting mixed up here. The ITV Digital one was early season (01/02 I'd guess) when we at Millmoor in August and drew 1-1. I think Laurent D'Jaffo got the equaliser and we were playing in tht damn awful gold and lilac kit. I think it was Rotherham's first season up.

The rainy one with Brown and Ndlovu scoring was the 02/03 one and was on SKY. It was after a four game losing run (Reading and Norwich had won at the Lane, forget the away ones) in February and it cost us our chance to challenge Leicester for second that season. We ended up in the Play Off against Wolves.

The third season Rotherham were up was 03/04 and our trip to Millmoor was on SKY that year as well. We were two up in the orange shirts and Tonge had a third ruled out mysteriously by Mark Halsey. Rotherham did come back that night and got a 2-2 draw before getting relegated at the end of the season. We'd stuffed them 5-0 early in that season a few days before/after the 5-3 with Cardiff.

Seem to recall at one of the Sky matches Blackwell was the "expert summariser" and walked in front of the United fans before climbing the ladders to get to the Sky box which was located in the corner of the Railway End. He was either Leeds Manager or Assistant Manager at the time and was welcomed with a chorus of "Judas" and " One Greedy Bast*d". Happy days.

yes it was on a thursday night sam

Two different games. 01/02 - 1-1 - They scored early on and Jaff Man scored from the spot in the second half. 02/03 - 2-1, Browny penalty and Kabba I think, Windass missed a sitter!!!

My kind of person with the stats Wombwell!! Although to challenge you, I am positive it was Kabba who scored not Ndlovu but a few brain cells may have died since then.

I'm struggling with the away games but if i was a betting man I'd say Millwall & Ipswich.

I also remember at that match a 'Blade' thinking he'd be big, hard and clever and throw a bottle into the side stand at half time....... a stand which contained about 500 Blades!

I remember the Bob Atkins goal. I was sat in the Rovrum stand with a few others and we all went nuts, I lost a trainer in the celebration which was never ever seen again :)

I also remember the earlier game back in the days of a forward pairing of Jeff Bourne and Barry Butlin . There were so many Blades in the home end that the wall fell down behind that goal. I know it was the biggest attendance Millmoor had seen for years and I might be recalling it wrong, but I think we won 2-0. Cue Darren :D

I stand to be corrected but I think it was Ndlovu. Vague memories of Kabba going on a superb run the length of the pitch in the rain with the Millers defenders chasing him like a Benny Hill sketch and then he hit the post. It may have been Kabba's shot that Ndlovu turned home? Am not sure now ... It was one of them and I think the other got the assist!

If I remember rightly, the ball fell to Ndlovu, who's shot was saved with Kabba putting in the rebound from a few yards away.

The official site has it as Kabba scoring in the 62nd minute.

The Barnsley match is a worry, most Unitedites seem to have voted with their feet. only 1100 tickets sold when i got mine.

Are you James Shield ;-) joking.

I was unable to sleep last night and after counting to 200 I remember thinking about the Rotherham away games you mentioned - something didn't seem right at the time but I couldn't put my finger on it. Now I realised, you were wrong about 03/04 and so was i.

01/02 - 1-1 (Jaffo) ITV Digital, horrid shirt.
02/03 - 2-1 (Browny & KABBA!!) Sky, lashing it down, Friday Night.
03/04 - 1-1 (Lester penalty) they equalised, may have been Monkhouse, midweek game, not on tele
04-05 - 2-2(Shaw & Tonge). On sky, Blackwell in the corner, orange shirts, we go two up and they claw it back. I remember this now as those horrid orange shirts had the HFS Loans sign on them and we only had HFS Loans from 04/05 - 05/06.

I am fully aware no-one gives a shit about this but it helps my OCD!! :-)

think i remember that match, i had a fiver for us to win 2-1.. 2-0 up 10mins to go and wanted rotherham to score a late 1 lol.

Kevin Arnott scored a pretty good one at Southend that same season.

Aye, seem to remember him waltzing through their defence in the last minute and both days being blazing hot sunshine.
Millmoor often seemed to be a potential deathtrap looking back at the old days.
The crush coming out in 84 down that lane by the stand and the wall collapsing in 79 - which Wednesday felt dutybound to imitate a couple of weeks later.
