Incredible when you consider where we were when Wilder took over, and even how we did last season (with no real financial injection in the summer, apart from the Brooks sale with incremental payment due).

It's not as though we haven't had media attention for how well we are doing but it still feels low key to me. If we do manage promotion this season, the size of the achievement can't be underestimated. It would be huge.

The question to ask are as follows.

Can West Brom go on a run of 5 or 6 wins on the bounce?
Can Leeds dust themselves down and go again?
Can the Blades hold together the defensive form of the last 6 or 7 games?
Can Norwich hold their nerve? If so they are up

Due to all the teams playing each other in and around the playoffs we are guaranteed the playoffs, our Colin wouldn’t get things like this wrong.

The weird thing with end of season fixtures is that it’s often much easier playing mid table teams compared to relegation threatened teams. Factors that may prove significant are

1: Our last 4 matches could prove to be much easier than imagined (Forest, Hull, Ipswich and Stoke) all having nothing to play for. Hopefully Hull and Forests form will contunue to drop, so their seasons are over when they play us.
2: Aston Villa are in top form and have still to play both Leeds and Norwich but unluckily for us, they may already be in the play-offs and it’s highly likely they’ll put out a weak team to rest players for the play-offs.
3: Sheff Wed are also in good form and also need to play Leeds and Norwich, but it’s much earlier and they should be massive matches. Wednesday could end up doing us a big favour if they prevent Leeds and Norwich from winning.

Good job we beat Leeds because our most testing patch is probably the next 3 games.
If we gain 6 points from Bristol City at home, Preston away and Birmingham away, then i’m confident we’ll finish in the auto’s.

Norwich are due a sticky patch starting next time out at Boro'. I can also see them gettting dicked by the pigs and Villa.

If Leeds repeat yesterday's abject display of finishing I can see their season stalling in spectacular fashion. Their morale will also be shot if their manager's reaction yesterday was anything to go by, He was hardly rallying the troops was he?

West Brom - forget it.

In summary all United need to do now is hold their nerve. United being United though we'll get a couple of upsets where we're least expecting them - Millwall and Ipswich come to mind, but overall I see us at the top of that list.

To keep it ticking along nicely I would want us to take 7 points from these 3 games. Preston will be the most difficult fixture that we have left so I would be delighted with a point.

Brizzle and the Peakies have dropped off the pace and we should he targeting max points in those 2 games.

That could keep us in 2nd spot will 5 left to play.

Agree, there’s the traditional unlucky “United factor” that causes negativity and pessimism.
Over the years we always seem to find a way to shoot ourselves in the foot.

However Sir Chris Wilder seems to laugh in the face of the football Gods.
I might be being brave but it does seem that “the Wilder factor” trumps the “United factor”.
I’d even go as far as saying Wilder has the power to break the play-off hoodoo that we have.
I really believe anything is possible under Wilder and Knill.

Look at Wilders recent promotions with Northampton in league 2 and with us in league 1.

Leeds huffed and puffed for 35 minutes but still didn't have a shot on target. Of the top 3 they've collected the least points in 2019. That's 2 defeats in the last 4 so they are definitely not as convincing

I truly believe we will win our last 5 due to a mixture of poor teams and teams with nothing to play for. That gives us 89 points so in my view another win from our next 3 should do it as can't see Leeds getting to 93.

All if and buts at the moment and we really do need to take 1 game at a time but our defence is looking so solid at the moment that I don't see us doing "a United" this season.
