I've now seen it since on facebook, and it's a yellow and that should be it, a clumsy forward's challenge. The referee should be embarrassed with himself, as should all those so called Blades slating Madine (let's face it you've got another agenda, didn't like the signing from word go and it's owt to have a dig).

Studs up, into the back of the players legs. Whilst it wasn't completely out of control like Vaulks, or one of those leg breakers that we see occasionally it was still a red.

Madine let us all down with that tonight. We will manage without him for the next 2 matches, but without a very effective option in our armoury. The only positive is that it will mean more gametime for Hogan, who I do think will make a significant contribution before the season end.

The decision could've gone either way for me but I think 75% of the time the ref is going to give a red for that. In that part of the pitch, at that stage of this game, at this stage of the season? It's frustrating by Madine.

Of more concern to me was towards the end of the game, Brentford were charging through our middle with Billy in hot pursuit of their player who had the ball. Obviously, a fat lad from Sheffield wasn't going to catch their bloke, so he tried to clip his ankles. If he'd brought him down, it could well have been a straight red - far more worrying than Madine's sending-off.

Those were the days before the Americanisation of our game by the powers that be, when they decided they wanted the referees to be stars also and, the ridiculous introduction of yellow and red cards to add drama to the situation. As you say DB, a definite red nowadays so you have just got to abide the rules. To suggest that a lot of us have an agenda against Madine is laughable. If that tackle had been made the opposition on Madine we would have been howling for a red card to be shown. I cannot believe that people who watch the modern game and see what kind of tackles players are sent off for can defend him. I would point out that I was one of those who didn't want Madine but soon changed my mind having seen him perform, a much better player than I gave him credit for. He has given us something extra and will be a big miss in my opinion but totally self inflicted fuck wittery for me.

I noticed that as well, really stupid thing for Billy to do, especially in the circumstances. We really dodged a bullet there and I hope Billy is aware of it. UTB

Was on halfway and would certainly only have been a yellow.

Billy felt he needed to "take one for the team" and I agreed with him, in fact I was pretty annoyed that he couldn't even foul properly!
