Egan and O'Connell

I think I know what Bees fans think better than you.

Of course you do Les, and you have your sparkling new stadium to look forward to, don't you?

Serious question Les, how do Bees fans feel after watching their side gutted via transfers out of the club? It's happened to us, so curious to know your thoughts.

Alternatively, you could just piss off from our forum? Nobody invited you here to talk shit.

This.

Thank you for asking a decent question. Sometimes is the answer. Jota - devestated. But it worked out ok. Hogan - we mugged Villa off because I'm afraid to say, he is very one dimensional. We have to do it though and we trust our scouting which has been brilliant. Egan made sound financial sense - sold him at the top of what he'd make for us.

Whenever a player leaves, he's always shit to some but few are. With O'Connell, I'm sorry but we were at a different level then - he wanted to play first team, we had been promoted to the Championship and it wasn't going to happen with us straight away so when you came in from League 1, it made sense all round. Best move he's made probably and one of your best signings.

There were many comments from Brentford fans stating that Egan wasn’t good enough for you after we had signed him. Many of the comments seemed to be hinting that you were a level above us.
I maintain that our system then which needed a ball carrying centre back in a two wasn't best suited to him. We wanted Chris Mepham in the team and we weren't going to have someone on a good wage like Egan sat on the bench running his contract down.

O'Connell was very good tonight. Our forward line was pretty fecking ordinary though :(

....or was it that they were as good as we allowed them to be? In the first half and most of the second it was nail biting stuff where I was sat but our defence nullified them pretty much. I have to say that I thought you were pretty good but we were inspired!

Nobody’s stated the obvious yet???.
Jack O’Connell’s magic, he wears a magic hat. Surely this explains his performance tonight. Egan was outstanding. UTB

Both probably. We miscontrolled much, much more than I'm used to seeing but we were working in such tight spaces which was caused by your discipline and pressing.

JOC has been outstanding for us, same goes for Egan. Obviously I have no idea of what Egan was like when he was at Brentford, but he's been Mr Consistent since he arrived at united. Together they're a superb pairing.

I think we're all beginning to see that Villa may have made a huge mistake with Hogan, and it's the fact that he's a loan that has allowed us to see what he has to offer, which is mainly pace and another body on the pitch.

Can't ignore the fact that they missed some really good chances though. And I don't mean to take anything away from our fantastic defensive performance.

Gonna say it is O’Connell the best center back we’ve had ? Is he better than jags/Morgan

Given Jags and Maguire have England caps to their name, definitely not yet. I do think he'll be playing Prem next season with or without us.

Is he good enough to play for someone like spurs 10000% yes

I just hope that spurs don’t know who he is

Probabaly not, but he's getting there.

I actually think Egan is the better/more important of the 2. He dictates absolutely everything at the back.

Egan is more important in some ways but I don't think there's much doubt about who's the better player overall.

Both are exceptional defenders, but JOC is also excellent on the ball too - a complete player.

Egan and a JOC were outstanding but I’d also just like to add a special mention to Basham after he moved into midfield, he was a colossus of a man mountain.
You cannot say that. BASHAM can't play Midfield.

Cannot argue with that. However, the defending was immense and the ‘keeping was so reliable. The biggest threat was where they hit the post, for me.

Topplayersleave? Is that you?

No it’s not. It’s just my pessimistic side coming out. Selling players for less than their value is a consistent theme for this club.

But, during these exciting times, I ought to reign it in.

We've certainly got form for selling players at a bit of a discount but I doubt £8m would buy either player, let alone both

Tell your pessimistic side to fuck off and enjoy last night's win :D

Oh I will. Always a niggling thought. I was pleasantly surprised by JOC signing his new deal, though. Ever since I first saw him at Stocksbridge I’ve liked him.
