Let’s be frank

I was too invested in my 2 for £2.20 pies from the Spar off John Street... Fucking delightful let me tell thee!

Mate our own fans singing “Football in a library”.

Surely you acknowledge that’s a low point.

Yeah, the atmosphere was flat but where isn't it? The days of masses of fans 'chanting' have long gone - even in the overhyped Sky games where even Man. City v Liverpool or Spurs v Arsenal are usually turgid affairs. How loud were the pig fans last Monday in their biggest game of the season? They couldn't even sell all their tickets. The most noise you get nowadays is from away fans who still try to assert their tribal 'rights' to another clubs' territory (a bit like a lion pissing up a tree) and this is often aided and abetted by booze and drugs. We get flak for the orchestrated singing of 'Annie's Song' but - at least since the 70s - the announcer at Anfield has started off 'You'll Never Walk...').

Have a good night! :)

Agenda of what? That I think the atmosphere is gash? I’m hardly on some sophisticated campaign. It’s a library mate. We all know it.

Not against Boro or Reading it wasn’t.

Most all seaters are like this from time to time, did you see the Man City game tonight, the place was quieter than the Lane and they are going for the title.

The atmosphere against Derby and Blackburn showed what we can do when we’re in the mood. Maybe Good Friday vs Forest will be good or if Millwall have one of their ‘days out’. As had been said before we need shit decisions against us or something to get mad about. Then we wake up.

It’s done mate. Done.

It was like a training game today, except with a 45 second break every time the ball went out of play.

Dislike it all you want but modern football needs either some jeopardy or brilliance to get the majority of the fans going. We had one against Boro and the other against Reading, both of which were good atmospheres.

Too seldom. Too little.

Bramall Lane is one of those old school grounds. But it’s dying right now.

If you were cute, if you were canny, as a club you’d look into how we can generate an atmosphere. Because it adds serious value. Currently it’s appalling. Leeds have pushed it. SUFC need to do the same.

So you did sing for the full 90 then?

Personally I’m not one for singing much though I’ll join in if it takes my fancy. I prefer to focus on what’s happening in the game but then again I’m not a super fan like yourself.

I was on the kop today, and I agree that many people just aren't joining in.

I think one problem is that people just aren't used to singing in a crowd like that, and they tend to feel shy about it. Also I suspect loads of people just don't feel they know the chants well enough, so they need some practice.
I think the club could help out a bit by organising some kind of 'practice singing' sessions. That might actually make quite a good night out if they were organised properly.
Also maybe someone could produce a song sheet of all the common songs, and link them to some youtube videos. Then if fans could practice in their bath it might encourage them to join in a bit.
Lets face it- everybody enjoys a singalong, and we'd all rather have a great atmosphere at the Lane. But people won't join in if they feel like you're a prat 'cos singings new to them or they might not get it right.
I suppose other issues that bugger up the singing are the fact that everybody's seated these days, and the average age of the crowd has probablty risen a bit in recent years.
I'm sure we can get the singing back, but I think it's going to take a bit of work.

So I don't totally disagree - although personally it doesn't bother me that much - but I'd say that 4 out of our last 6 home games have had good atmospheres (I can't really remember what it was like v QPR and Bolton but that suggests it wasn't good). Leeds are probably the gold standard of home atmosphere, it'd be nice to have the Lane rocking like that every game but it's not that bad.

But I think some of us have higher standards of what constitutes a good atmosphere than others :)

Maybe our fans are 10 steps ahead here - keep ignoring Wilder's pleas for long enough and he's bound to eventually force the club into doing something useful...

It was Gash today there’s no denying it. But it’s no worse than most other grounds and when it does get rocking it’s still better than most as Lampard and Pulis admitted / whinged about recently.

It’s not “gone” and we aren’t “feeble” just as we were not “a very poor team” as least one poster said after the first half at away at Reading.

I think we will see a different atmosphere on Tuesday.

Shit opponents combined with shit weather didn’t exactly help. I was sat shivering in horizontal rain at the front of the for a large part of the match :(

The ball was being dried and polished more than it was in play during that first half.......millers took that long with throw ins and that one pace goalie and being shit.....killed any chance of an atmosphere ever starting.

Ive no idea what the answer is. If people don't want to sing or won't then it's difficult.

Theres no issue at away matches but that is probsbly down to a concentrated fan base, although there is a wide demographic of fans who attend away matches.....and in fact probably an equal spread of fans who sit on different stands.

A singing section has been tried and failed.....for now.

We can blame the k.o time on today (and probably tues) but players need us.

All i can say is sing. And if someone glares at you then so be it. When bdtbl is rocking theres no better place.

Bramall Lane is not dying drama queen.

Atmospheres at modern day football grounds aren’t what they were 10 years ago.

Why is this surprising some of you all a sudden it’s been like it for years at most grounds?

You still get the odd loud game. Derby being a great case in point. We need something going against us to really get things going.

I don't want to be Frank, can I be Wayne??

Siting down instead of standing , false shite music , orchestrated sing from the PA system ffs .

Crystal Palace recently split up the Ultras because they were causing too much noise and a general nuisance then they realise they had dropped a bollock when the atmosphere went flat , and they are now all seated together again creating the best atmosphere in any stadium or of any football fans .

Haha that’s brilliant, pissed myself. Fucking practise sessions.
