I fail to see the value to someone of a few scribbles on a ball unless the scribbles were given in a context that means something to that person. I have one from 92 from when I was a mascot but to anyone else it wouldn’t have value or significance.

I always thought the interest in people getting autographs was the context in which they were given, not just in actually having the scribble itself.
