Huge thanks. You deserved it. Leeds thought they could walk it and only looked at it in final quarter. Watched you lose in last minute to Baggies and shared your pain. Payback tonight.

We played a league 1 play-off match against Stevenage Borough a few years ago.
In the tie at Bramall Lane Stevenage had this little player who had the close control and dribbling skills reminiscent of Lionel Messi.
He really stood out as being miles too good for league 1 level, looked the most talented player on the pitch.
Then I believe Stevenage sold him to Bristol City.
He was on Arsenals books but got released at some point.

The great thing about Leeds is how jealous they make the other lot.

Leeds are the genuinely big club that Wednesday think they are.

I always think for the size of their city, and that they have the pull as the big club in West Yorkshire, plus they pull in from North Yorks, and parts of East and South Yorks, that they flatter to deceive as a genuinely big club. Elland Road as a ground is no great shakes and never has been and prior to the Revie era they didn't particular have much history. Post Revie, they've spent 23 years at least outside the top flight, and 3 of those in the third tier.

If football history had turned out different and Sheffield would have only had one professional team it's likely that team would have been a big hitter alongside the likes of Man U and Liverpool.

Sheffield = football city, Leeds = rugby city.

I don't share the same dislike of Leeds as some other fans, but I'm sure glad you beat them. :D:D:D:D:D

The dirty Leeds thing is slightly old hat now but still fun to needle them with. It came from the 70's when Don Revie invented gamesmanship and had them kicking the shit out of everyone else. We had other (smaller) fish to fry at the time and their big rivals were Liverpool and Chelsea if I remember rightly.
The 1970 FA cup final between Leeds and Chelsea is an all time classic and required viewing for all serious students of the game.
Here's a tiny clip for the curious. Warning: those of a nervous disposition should look away now:

Leeds have played in a European Cup Final and been Champions of England within living memory.

They dwarf every other team in Yorkshire put together.

I could watch that all night, I was one of the few who wanted Chelsea to win in our school as all the others had fallen for the Look leeds propaganda.

Agree with your observations re Le'scum but where do Everton & Moss Side City fit in - both are bigger hitters than anything Sheffield has (had)

Not even a free kick given. The Action Replay focussed on Chelsea's miss at the other end.

The 'pundits' nowadays would've been swarming all over that from all different camera angles

I loved football in the 70's.

I’ve got family in Leeds and I think they are one of the truely ‘big clubs’, so I don’t really have a problem with them.

Glad they fuckin lust tho.

He was a decent player and I remember speaking to the club a few months later. He was on the radar then.

I don’t remember him being THAT good as you describe, but he certainly would’ve improved us.

Not sure he’d be an improvement on Dowell and Duffy from what I saw last night. I thought he looked quite heavy. And he looked knackered

I saw someone posted on a thread the other day that they valued him currently at £4.5. Even in the championship that seems a bit low, Bannan was apparently rated as £8m according to the papers... and he only turns up about 1/2 the games in a season. I bet he’ll be ‘missing’ again on Monday

I live in Leeds. I'd like us to go up as champions with Leeds second.

That said, i think Leeds are more likely to stay up if they do go up, which could impact us.

That's a fair commute to Annan

Hope it’s us and Leeds up there in the end. PL needs some proper Yorkshire representation for once.

He’ll be gone at the end of the season. We’ll really miss him.

I think he’s be great in the premier league.
Hope you dump Mishter Shteeev McClaren to save your club.

Agree he didn’t effect the Stevenage game as much as he could have.
It was more about his brilliant first touch and dribbles in and around the centre circle area.
None of his touches happened in our box so he didn’t hurt us. He reminded me a little of an Alex Sabella type.

He did look heavy legged last night, although most of the QPR players looked knackered, probably because they’d played so much recently due to the FA cup exploits.
