The Man City fans I live near, work with and play sport with are all the same.
I do think that our way of playing is a problem for most strikers - if your main skill is beating players in the box and shooting that's not something that happens too much in United's game. That isn't distinct to Blackwell - it was the same under Warnock.
Most of the game is spent either without the ball chasing and harrying defenders / midfielders, without the ball with your back to goal trying to get it under control at head or chest height, or trying to get on to the end of a flick-on or knock-down.
I'm pretty sure that we brought Sharp into the team at the ideal time, but in the wrong circumstances and the wrong style of play. We're fast doing the same with Evants (on the rare occasion that we put him in the side). Evans is about taking chances that are worked in open play (take his rasping shot from distance against the pigs as an example) - whereas our style demands someone who can score on the floor in a scramble or from a set-piece.
I wonder how many goals Beattie would have scored if he hadn't taken penalties. Take away Cotterills assists and set-pieces and the total tumbles.
For me we've got to mix up our style of play some more - look how many chances we created for Craig Beattie to miss over two legs against Preston when we worked the ball around and opened up space. I'm sure that over a season of doing that the likes of an Evans or a Sharp would look like completely different players.
It's no surprise that the strikers who have been favoured at the Lane and prospered under Blackwell and Warnock are Hulse and Henderson. Strikers who have looked like doing well - take Ward and Kabba, able to take half-chances and like lightning onto a knock-down and flick-on.
Ched Evans will come into his own once that waster Hendo is out of the first team so we can stop playing the long ball to Hendo...
You only have to watch the Welsh U-21's to realise that Evans knows how to score when given th ball to feet or to run onto...we just dont have enough skilled passers of theball on the rest of the field, hence hoof to hendo to hopefully nod it down...
Well Len you can't of been at the game on Saturday.
You could lay a few accusations at him but not lazy not interested or arsed, he was all over the place.
As for opinions that for some reason he is a good player. These are probably based on the fact that he has an excellent scoring/assists record for us so far and his record at other clubs was also impressive.

Well it must of been another player with Evans on his back running about on Saturday then.

Threads like this are hilarious.
A host of opinions that Evans is for some reason a good player despite being virtually unable to make any kind of impact on any game this season.
He's been shyte and Camara's cameo quickly showed what a difference a player with pace, movement and a bit of ability makes. All are qualities Evans has none of.
Worst of all is his attitude. Lazy, not interested, not arsed.
Unless there's some kind of magical spell cast which turns him into a proper footballer before January the best bit of business we could possibly do would be to offload while there is still the semblance of a transfer fee to be had.
Good stuff Len, we'll file this with your comments about the comical Hulse signing and the panic buying of a 3rd division striker last season which you have conveniently now forgotten

No problem. Good to see Hulse has refound his level after his blip with us and I think you must be thinking of someone else about Ward.
Nope, it was you. I seem to remember you said it was proof of the direction the rudderless ship was going or something along those lines.
Is it too early to judge?
Yes - So don't
No it doesn't. It's muppets like you who question his ability after 10 or so games that does that.
Is there anything about the club that you actually like?
pretty much blows all KB's excuses out of the water
Seriously though Jim, he's spent say £3.5m for sake of argument on those two and they are far from regulars in the team. It just does not make sense. It is hard to have sympathy for his cries of poverty when you think about this.

I know, fair enough! I thought I was going to get through a post without mentioning how poor a manager Blackwell is but it is physically impossible for me, I now admit that - my thought process just drifts that way and before you know it is time for a pop at Blackwell - an entirely justifiable one of course!!
